Hi

I'm preparing myself inside as have a high thyroglobulin reading

Anyone else had this and it isn't the unthinkable!!! Trying to put a balance on it, its 191 range 0 to 115

It means you have autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto's). There is no cure for Hashimoto's which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Treatment is for the low thyroid levels it causes. Many people have found that 100% gluten-free diet is helpful in reducing Hashi flares, symptoms and eventually antibodies.

Oh I thought it indicated the big c? As it's a tumour pointer? No?

I notice the peroxidane antibody checks for hashi?

Some people have raised thyroid peroxidase antibodies, some have raised thyroglobulin antibodies and some have both. Both indicate Hashimoto's. Very high levels of thyroglobulin, in the thousands, may indicate a higher risk of thyroid cancer being present.

Thyroglobulin and thyroglobulin antibodies measurements are used as cancer markers in thyCa patients who have had a complete thyroidectomy. With no thyroid there should be the merest trace of thyroglobulin so detectable amounts post thyroidectomy indicate thyroid activity which may mean the cancer has recurred.
