Low testosterone &hyperthyroidsm ( 8 years ) .my testosterone level is normal ( 15.9) (NHS -uk) but l don't feel normal .

My testosterone level ,it's in the normal range but l just don't feel right ,l just don't have the energy that l used to have ,no morning erections and not much of a sex drive .its frustrating because my doctor won't prescribe any testosterone because he says my level is fine .private doctor said : you took a blood test that gave you a total testosterone level he said in my opinion this is pretty much useless in determining your true level .A high percentage of testosterone is bound to Sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) when it is bound your body cannot use it .the small percentage that is not bound is active and is used by your body .basically the higher your SHBG .the lower your active testosterone .the lower your SHBG ,the higher your active testosterone .NHS system useless l beg them l don't feel normal he says your level is fine ....unbelieveable

He said your SHBG could be high A few different things could be causing this : 1-liver damage ( l don't think so ) 2-excessive alcohol ( no) 3-high estrogen levels increase SHBG 4 - hyperthyroid or excessive thyroid medication .

Frustrating as it is, can you afford to fund a private blood test for the one mentioned during the private consultation?

It seems a lot of basic, serum-level blood tests aren't particularly informative and can need some further investigation, tho' it can become expensive very quickly.

The bio-available test is £129 on Medichecks (I've no association with them - the test is probably available elsewhere and there might well be a price offer available if you're prepared to wait): medichecks.com/testosterone...

Unbelieveable ! Must be connection with overactive thyroid ! I said to him please help me he doesn't listen to me ! He said nothing he can do ! 😰😰
