Welcome to the forum, Greystone666.

Are you already taking Erfa?

I was yes and it worked really well. I had all my tests done in London but I can't afford to go and get my blood tests etc done in London as it's very expensive. I'm looking for a great Doctor in Kent

Greystone666,

Email louise.roberts@thyroiduk.org.uk for a list of member recommended endos.

You can order home test blood kits via thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

If you want to source Erfa without prescription and self medicate send me a private message.

You are unlikely to find a NHS doctor willing to prescribe NDT as it is not licensed for UK use but if members can recommend anyone they will do so via private messages. To read a private message: support.healthunlocked.com/...

If you find a great doctor in Kent please let me know.

I moved from London to Kent and the GP practice via Kent and Coastal CCG used narrower reference ranges than London. My new GP will reduce all previous levels of medication from London GP's to fit the reference range. They certainly won't test for Vit D or T3. If you are anywhere within the normal range that is considered normal and symptoms are not considered possible. They are v happy to prescribe anti depressants though and refuse referral to endocrinology.

Do you self medicate with Erfa?

I can't imagine anyone in Kent prescribing anything other than Levothyroxine. If anyone knows different please let me know!

helvella had a list of this from a while back ( from all of England, not just Kent ) but I'm here in Kent too and my GP is clueless and useless. Self medicating and TUK and TPAUK saved my bacon :) That there's still too much of my bacon to save is neither here nor there :D Porky Raps xx

No I don't self medicate. NDT is like the devil to NHS GP's. Erfa worked really well for me. Oh yes don't get me started on anti depressants!!! That's why I went private I had enough of my NHS Dr telling me nothing is wrong!

Are you looking for a sympathetic private endo in Kent then? If you do find one please let me know how you get on.

My GP will not refer on as he has declared me as in the normal range albeit at the bottom for T4 but I am really struggling. I have Hashimoto's and take 50 Levo

Considering reregistering to my former London GP 60 miles away. He is French and very good with hypothyroid treatment. He is currently my husbands GP and treats him for hypo. I can do this as bills have my name on so I can pass as a local resident. Not exactly convenient but needs must.

If you have a good contact consider your next move v carefully.

DJR which side of Kent are you? Could you travel to a private endo on the Kent side of Sussex/Surrey or would that be as far away as your old GP?

I live on the East coast but would consider travelling for knowledgeable help. Would I need a referral? Thx for getting in touch. Could you pm me some details?

I believe there is one in the Medway Trust who may be open to prescribing NDT privately but whether he only favours Armour or not I don't know. He used to prescribe Armour on the NHS but I know of one person who had a fight to keep her prescription a while ago. I would like to say though that there's no-one at Tunbridge Wells (or Maidstone if the same team) who will treat on anything other than TSH. I saw one who I thought would help as he prescribes NDT privately and I had heard very good things of him, but he went solely by the TSH, didn't understand a suppressed TSH when on T3 meds, got me to reduce my dose and then blamed the re-appearance of my symptoms on everything else he could think of and in fact also said I was never hypo and should not have been diagnosed or treated. I've now changed to one privately in Sussex/Surrey who is treating and prescribing Nature-throid privately. I haven't heard of one prescribing NDT on the NHS for a while now unfortunately.
