Bora72,

Your FT3 has been half way through range since December so it is no longer high. Haven't symptoms improved at all?

This is make me crazy sorry but my English ,I think there's been a misunderstanding and there's been a bit of a mix up .let me explain what happened I was taken high dose propylthiouracil 300 mg every day almost 8 years and my thyroid levels was still going up ! It was strange 2015 June : t3 7.66 ( 3.6-6.5 ) 2 September t3 8.63 pmol /L and 13 January 2016 : t3 9.30 keep going up March 2016 my t3 level was very high 11.86 pmol/L ... Why my GP and thyroid specialist didn't say anything .Why my thyroid levels was going up ? and suddenly my hand start shaking then August 2016 my thyroid specialist said : ohh sorry now three to be taken in the morning because I was overmedicated he reduced my medication .doesnt make any sense I was taken 300 mg everyday my t3 and t4 level still going up ! Antithyroid medication didn't protect me ! It was strange ....

Bora72,

I understand. You were under medicated on 300mg because FT3 was rising throughout 2015-2016. But in Dec 2016 either your dose changed or you responded better to PTU because your FT3 dropped to 4.99.

in reply to Clutter

Yes my dose changed ....

in reply to Clutter

My dose reduced 150 mg after that my FT3 dropped to 4.99 how can you say l was under medicated ? I was over medicated that's why my FT3 was rising ! It was too much PTU ! Almost 8 years everyday 150 mg morning 150 mg evening .when my New GP reduced to tablets my FT3 dropped to 4.99 ..he is good GP better than my thyroid specialist .almost 2 years FT3 rising doesn't say anything ......

in reply to Clutter

FT3 was rising throughout 2015-2016 because l was over medicated ! It was thyroid specialist fault ! I'm sorry I'm not agree with you .how can you under medicated when FT3 rising FT4 rising and very low TSH 0.01 long time ......doesn't make any sense ....

in reply to Clutter

Can my body get used to certain medications so they won't work for me anymore ? I was originally on 300 mg PTU per day and t3 and t4 still keeps going up ..it was strange .....

Bora72,

It wasn't working for you then but it is working for you since December because your results were within range in December.

in reply to Clutter

Ok I understand but what about side effects? Hormonal imbalance ? Because FT3 was rising and without warning suddenly my hand start shake it was like stroke ..l was worried ......

Bora72,

Well you did have a hormonal imbalance because PTU 300mg wasn't sufficient to block your thyroid production which is why FT3 was rising. One side effect of high FT3 is hand tremors.

in reply to Clutter

Ok l understand thanks for help

in reply to Clutter

Because my new GP reduced my tablets 150 mg ( PTU) then my thyroid levels was ok l took too much antithyroid medication (PTU) l was over medicated ! I wasn't under medicated ......

They look like hypo symptoms, to me.

in reply to greygoose

Is it possible to have symptoms of both ?

Absolutely. Have you ever had any antibodies tested?

in reply to greygoose

no I'm not sure

Well, anyway, if your FT3 is only mid-range, then you are not hyper. But, it is possible that some cells are getting more T3 than others, so, you can have hypo and hyper symptoms at the same time. The solution is to work on the hypo, and raise the T3.

I'm not an expert by all means . But the way I understand it that we need more T4 and a small amount of T3 . About 10 to 1 . Both FT3 and FT4 need to be tested . It's all about balance and how one feels .
