Need advice on odd subject

I'm on 150mcg levo, recently increased from 125mcg

I take beta blockers and vitamin D

Since the increase my bowel department has gone into overdrive. I had the same problem when I was first confirmed as being hyper.

Anyone else have these kind of issues.

Welcome all advice however graphic

Snoddyoddbod,

Loose bowels can be a sign of over medication. What were your thyroid levels when you were taking 125mcg?

That what I thought. It's only started since the endo increased it. I will have to dig out my paperwork.

I have lots of different things symptom wise since I had the RAI and every time the endo says it's not related to the Graves

Snoddyoddbod,

You can try reducing your dose to see whether looseness improves. If it does try 125/150mcg alternate days.

I can't locate my last set of results Will get them asap from endo for further advice

I will try dropping it down and then alternate days.

Thank you so very very much for the advise. Greatly appreciated

Hi. I have found my last endo letter. All is says is my TSH was 2.32 and has increased to 5.60. That my vit d was low and she will see me in 6 months. That was it.

Can you suggest anything from that?

Snoddyoddbod,

TSH 5.60 indicates you were under medicated on 125mcg. Ideally TSH will be around 1.0 with FT4 (which doesn't appear to have been tested) in the upper range.

How much vitD are you supplementing and for how long have you been taking it?

Taking 1000 units a day of vitD

On my blood test sheet they only test my TSH and FT4 but rarely do I see the numbers. Only just started testing vit D after four years

Snoddyoddbod,

Data Protection Act entitles patients to their results so ask your endo for results and ranges after every blood test.

If vitD is low 1,000iu won't be much help. 1,000iu is a maintenance dose.

Feel like I'm being given the brush off by my endo. Seems to me she is doing the text book review times and nothing else. Saw her on March the first not going back until 6th September.

Is it worth seeing my gp in the meantime or bringing the endo appointment forward?

Snoddyoddbod,

I find it lax that your endo doesn't retest thyroid levels after a dose adjustment. I only see my endo annually now but if there is a dose adjustment I'm rechecked 6 weeks later and we have a 'virtual consultation' to discuss (telephone conversation to you and me).

I always ask for my results during a consultation and they are usually included in the clinic review letter which is sent to my GP and copied to me. When some results have not been available during the consultation the endo has written to me with them.

Think I may go to my gp and ask if there is a endo in the area who deals with the thyroid and it's issues and see where I go from there.

Other than that not sure what to do

Snoddyoddbod,

Is the endo you see private?

No. NHS

Snoddyoddbod,

Why not just write and ask for the results and ranges of TSH, FT4 and vitD. You could say you've had loose bowels and would like a thyroid test to check you aren't over medicated but it would be quicker to ask your GP to do the blood test.

I have a gp appointment booked already so I will get some done.

Thank you for your help. Really appreciate your time and advice
