Tinnitus with hypo

Hi All,

I have been taking the Thyroid S tablets since January this year. All going well, my tests show Thyroid normal. All of a sudden, 2 weeks ago, I developed tinnitus, sound as if I am in a windtunnel and can hardly hear.

Anybody else having the same symptons after taking Thyroid S?

Do you have a copy of your blood test results with the ranges that you can post for comments.

Even though our results show 'normal' that doesn't always mean we are on an optimal of hormones for us. The aim is a TSH of 1 or lower.

Tinnitus is also one of the many clinical symptoms:-

Thank you for replying. It seems my TSH is 3.59, FT3 is 6.9, FT4 1.3. That is what my blood test result show. Then obviously my TSH and other results are too high.

You state above that "my tests show Thyroid normal" but a TSH of 3.59 is high. The aim is a TSH of around 1 or lower.

However, when we take NDT the method is slightly different when on levo only. In that when we begin, we start on an equivalent dose to levo and around every 1 of 2 weeks we raise by 1/4 tablet until symptoms are relieved. You should always take your pulse/temp as a guide. If either go too high you drop to previous doe or if you feel at all if you've taken a little too much.

Your FT3 seems good but TSH is too high. As as you are taking NDT they wont correspond with taking levothyroxine as the tests were introduced along with levo.

When you have a blood test always ask for a print-out as they should contain the results plus the ranges. Labs differ so it enables members to respond better.

Marlies,

Some members have developed tinnitus or had it worsen when their FT3 is high. Another found increasing T3 dose made tinnitus worse.

This is how doctors used to treat patients, before blood tests were introduced and, for me, I think it is the ideal way.

The main point is we take sufficient in order to relieve all of our clinical symptoms. Blood tests were introduced along with levothyroxine alone, therefore if we add T3 or take NDT the results wont 'fit'. It is how we, the patient, feels on a particular dose - not the blood tests.
