Levo & weight question.

I have read a lot about issues people are having with their weight. These people are often taking Levo.

Have people found that taking Levothyoxine has made them gain weight, or just that it hasn't helped reverse the weight they gained through having an underactive thyroid?

I found when optimal I was able to lose weight but not without effort! Before and currently I was putting in lots of effort and still gaining weight....

I originally thought the weight would just drop off much like it just went on! No chance 😂.

Am taking 150mcg of Levo and weight still increasing. Could eat fresh air and still gain. To say I'm fed up is the understatement ! Had iodine treatment so thyroid gland isn't working at all so metabolism isn't working properly but professionals not in the least bit interested !!!

I did gain 3 stone !, Now on Nature Throid and it is coming off slowly but with no change in diet which was always balanced. Go for that!!!

So for you, NDT has helped much more. Do you think that's because it's different to Levo, or because Levo is just T4 & Narurethyroid is t3 & t4!

It's one of a few makes of NDT. (A mix of T3 & T4.) A few GP's will prescribe NDT, but most don't, so people on NDT are often self medicating.

It is made from pig thyroid gland. Manufactured by RLS labs in the states.

Pig bits used in various places e.g replacement heart valves.!!

I started on levo in January weight was at 10 stone. I have gained 5 pounds which is a lot for me. In fact five or six pounds was my weight gain before commencing the levo.my last Tsh test was 1.5. Puzzled.
