Kaula,

Many of our members have low iron. Low iron is common in menstruating women.

Anemia too

Hi Kaula are you a tea and coffee drinker? If so research has shown that most teas and coffees have tannin in them which affect the iron levels in your blood. Having had an op recently, I felt

the healing process was being slowed down so I have cut out tea and coffee red wine and beer

with or without alcohol - if you look at nutrition resources - org uk you can find articles explaining how tannin can affect the iron uptake in your blood. Since replacing teas with weak Ribena with no added sugar, and lemon juice and water, with added sweetners non sugar, I have felt better.

My op scar is healing better. As vitamin C helps in the absorption of iron in the blood, then 1000grams of vitamin c is a pick me up. I look for the orange flavoured tablets or disolvables as

I find them better for taste. Foods rich in iron are red meat, kale, broccoli and dark leaved vegetables. If you feel this isn't the answer then you should go to your GP and ask for slow release iron tablets. The old ones can make you feel sick and aren't absorbed well.

Ferrorgad C is a good slow release iron tablet with the vitamin C helping the absorption of the iron.

Hope you find the cause of this anaemia.

Sometimes I drink hot tea and cold tea hot coffee sometime

The chemist does tonic wih liquid iron tonic. Ask your pharmacist - they can help.

It's taking too much iron which can give you iron poisoning. Women are more prone to anaemia

but should be checked. Sometimes if you are are on the margins of low blood count

you might be told to make up the differene yourselft hrough eating iron rich foods such as red meata nd eggs an fruit and veggies. If you have a inor ailment clinic in your pharmay

hhey deal with many things but if they think you should go back to the dootor they arrange for you to see him and prescribe accordingly..
