Sorry but I just don't trust my GP anymore. The Dr said it was just a folic acid deficiency?

Am I right in thinking that the underlined results refer to b12 and folic acid deficiency? Or is there more I should be looking into?
T3tracy,
No, they're part of a white blood cell count. They're all within range so I don't know why they've been underlined.
What are your B12 and folate results and ranges?
B12 377 folic acid 3. I underlined them they looked out to me. 😊
t3Tracey,
Folic acid 3 may be deficient but B12 377 is within range. Has your GP prescribed folic acid?
Yes she has 5mg folic acid a day...isn't vit b12 meant to be 500 or more?
t3Tracey,
Some people think so. NHS won't prescribe because 377 is within range. You can buy methylcobalamin without prescription if you want to supplement.
serum B12 is not a test that can be used as a single marker of B12 deficiency - it will pick up 5% of people who aren't B12 deficient and will miss 25% of people who aren't - so it can't be used as a single measure for B12 deficiency. the amount in your blood is only one part of the story and something that shows a lot of individual variation.
Please take a look at the PASoc form (and the pinned posts) to find out more about testing and diagnosing B12 deficiency.
