Hi I'm new here also

I've been feeling very lethargic for the past year with last two tests showing high t4 and low t3. I don't seem to heal from cuts, can't sleep at all, blurred vision, confusion

I've an appointment tomorrow at QE hospital. I wonder what they'll say.

Welcome. Yes ask for the tests suggested by reallyfedup and be prepared to be sent for a blood test. Normally I would say get your appointment as early as possible and starved. This means that your bloods will be at the best for getting a diagnosis. Also write down a list of symptoms. Look on the Thyroid Uk site as they have a list and there may. E things you didn't think could be thyroid related. Always useful to take a list of what you want to ask do again reading the site it will give a lot of information that you may want to ask them about.

Hope it goes well. Let us know how you get on.

Hi, just thought I'd let you know that nhs endo man Flatly refused t3 test as he says it will not help me. He also wrote to my gp saying the same. He also said that I said I was on topical steroid cream so wouldn't do cortisol test either. I am not on steroids.

You likely need nutritional support. But it is also likely you could get out of the slump quicker by taking T3 - which the NHS often refuses to provide. The only other option is to self-treat with T3 purchased off the internet.

No t3 for me says nhs endo.

The only other way is try and obtain it illegally.

There is NOTHING illegal about ordering T3 (liothyronine) from abroad, without a prescription, provided it is for the use of the person ordering it or a member of their household. (This applies to the UK only - other countries have their own laws.)

I am sure I could work out some way of doing it illegally, if I really wanted to! :-)

Ok that was droll and I know I can be a bit old lady but I don't know where I could order it. Do you?

At present some of the former good places are out of stock.

Afraid I don't know where to buy as I do not take it - just levothyroxine for me. If I knew of a good source in my experience, I would have sent you a Private Message.

Did he test the other things suggested Vit D etc? If not ask your GP to do that. I am expecting they will be low. With a high T4 and a low T3 you look like you have a conversion problem and your need Vit D, B12, folate and ferritin to be optimal, in range is not good enough but they help the Thyroid convert. I was in a similar place as you but I knew Levo was also diagrering with me after many many years of it being ok. I also knew that other nutrients were low so even though I was wanting to go back onto NDT which I'd first been prescribed I knew I had to address other things first do I increased the intake of supplements I was already taking and added others in and the change was brilliant and I lost some weight without trying to as well. After 6 months my conversation was so much better and almost spot on. Then I read that NDT tended to be very slightly generous on T3 so decided to change but it wasn't a decision taken lightly as for a. Outlets of years I'd looked at the experience of others and had learned a lot. You can get the tests the GP wont do privately so you may have to consider that if you want to know answers. Blue Horizon and MediChecks are both recommended by Thyroid Uk. Both have offers from time to time as well so worth looking at the web site to see what they can do and start a thread about them if you are insure about the best for your needs as I'm sure someone will help in that and then keep an eye out for offers. MediChecks I understand do offers on Thyroid Thursday.

Not what you're looking for?
