Every once in a while, like now, the palms of my hands become itchy, inflamed, then the skin comes off. Anybody know why this happens?

Itchy hands
Hi Maryh
Not sure why, but I have this every now and then, I thought it was due to my anxiety. Sorry you have this as well. Be nice to know if others have this too.
So pleased I found this,as 4yrs ago I discovered I had an under active thyroid, and I get itchy palms, thrown soap away thinking it was the soap...but do find if I stick to my regular liquid soap it's fine, but still none the wiser what causes it,and I also get itchy scalp?? Is it throxcine.
Could it be eczema? I used to get eczema on my hands, including small patches on my palms, but it 98% vanished after I got my nutrient levels up to optimal. I think the ones that helped the most were the B vitamins, particularly B12.
A couple of years ago my hands started itching like crazy then cracked and bled and I had these tiny raised bumps under my skin . I went for allergy patch testing and I found out that I have a lot of allergies . Just an idea .
Yes, I want to have allergy tests to. I think this issue has something to do with my thyroid, or just upsetting my system like I have done recently. I don't get bumps or blisters, and it doesn't bleed. The itchy places turn very red from my scratching, then the top layer of skin peels off. In the past I've had this on my whole hand. Rather like a snake shedding it's skin.
I have recently been diagnosed with lichen Planus, which sometimes occurs in the mouth, as purple patches, itchy fingers, wrist and palms of your hands. Apparently the levo T4 75 mcg I was taking brought it on, I am now on Amour thyroid 45 mcg and it’s in remission you may want to read up on it. You can get blisters too! Usually effects all areas where you perspire. This thyroid meds is very dangerous for some people. Doctors don’t listen I had to go to a dermatologist to find out it was the levo.
I think I'm allergic to my Liothyronine. I tried taking 5 mcg 4 times a day and it seemed to have brought on a coughing fit for the last several weeks. So I have gone back to my tried and true NatureThroid. I still take a T3 before bed and sure enough the coughing starts again. I'm thinking maybe my system doesn't like anything synthetic? Does T3 come in a natural form?
My daughter had the same problem. Her hands were so itchy and skin on palms started peeling off. We managed to cure it with beta carotine pills. A vit A deficiency but the beta carotine was a safer option x
Thanks so much Mags, I'll try it!
It has happened to me also. They still flare up from time to time.
Doctors have told me it's pompholyx - just going through it now and can't do anything with it except wait till the top layer of skin has peeled off and then it's better - very sore and itchy - the doctors look at me as though I don't moisturise or use the steroid cream but nothing touches it - have always wondered if it's something thyroid related (I'm not diagnosed but lots of symptoms and lowT3)
