Are you self-treating or was the t3 prescribed? It would help to know how you or your gp or endo came to the conclusion you might need it.

Generally for every 10mcg added levo is reduced by 50 (rough rule of thumb) so if 25 was added on top of all your levo (if there was no reduction) would it have been because your t3 was extremely low?

Your most recent test results might help clarify what has been going wrong and if the t3 will help.

Yes my T3 was very very low & I was using a supplement to try to convert my T3 for past 2 months & no difference so I started on T3 for more energy & to help with weight loss, I was seeing a private doctor , I don't have my tests results with me but I can get them emailed over :))

No worries, I just had a look at your old threads. :-)

So were your last t3 results 5.3 (3.1 - 6.9)? Or have your levels deteriorated since then according to a more recent test?

If that's your most recent result I think 25mcg is quite a big starting dose and you're at risk of overmedicating yourself.

They had deteriorated since then :((

Ok, the usual way of going forward w t3 is to reduce your levo by 50 and add 10 t3. Normally you'd leave a little gap while your t4 drops a bit but if your t3 is low that might not matter much.

Ok thank you for your advice. Yes my T3 was very very low & zero energy increasing weight gain.

Do you think my energy will increase & I will lose weight ??

Thank you

Well you need to be on the correct amount of t3 to see if it will help you, and you need to know if it is low t3 that's causing your fatigue. So I think more info is required to make an assessment. Otherwise we're just fortune-telling. :-)

Do you know if vit d, b12, folate, ferritin and iron are good? Those can also affect how you feel and how well you use your meds.

Yes had full tests done , vitamins are all fine, am also taking Nutri Adrenal & these have helped my Adrenals massively !

So T3 is option at this stage !

It is reasonable to try it, but overmedication will make you feel unwell too, so low and slow is the way forward. Reduce levo, add 10mcg t3, wait a couple of weeks, see how you feel.

Do you have your test results for vits and mins? Ideally they will be at optimal levels rather than just somewhere in range if you see what I mean.

You may want to put weight loss goals on hold for the moment until you can figure out what's wrong.

Yes my vitamin levels were perfect as I've been taking all correct vitamins for quite a while,

I was told it was low T3 causing my low energy ' particularly my weight gain :))

Certainly a good candidate for that. If you get your t3 in the right place and still have symptoms maybe look at adrenals.

Yes I'm taking Nutri Adrenal for my Adrenals which is great, just the weight problem & energy so hoping the T3 will help with those soon !!

You commented about taking the required bits etc for two months, that may not be long enough. I increased and also added to my regime and over 6 months I lost half a stone without even trying but more importantly was a much better shape. My conversation rate then was almost spot on but it didn't happen for quite a time.

Did you add T3 to Levo ? Like me , I've been waiting 9 years so I'm very patient at this stage to wait for results , I just hope for energy & weight loss the most !

No the extra vitamins etc did the trick. That was some time ago

if you add T3 you must reduce Levothyroxine, there are certain important ratios to observe

Yes I have reduced the Levo but as I had a TT I cannot have it too low

In 2015 I had a TT prior to this I wasn't on any medication. I was put on 100 mg Levo and then 150mg. I had never been overweight in my life i.e. 5ft 8ins and tops 138lbs. I put on 12 lbs in 5 months and everything hurt. I changed myself to NDT and after 10 months I am back to 136 lbs and have no pain. Hope this helps.
