Adrenal Insufficiency
carlaree15 Have you had a saliva adrenal stress profile test to show your levels of cortisol and DHEA?
Dr Myhill's website has information on how to interpret the test and suggestions for supplementing for the different results.

carlaree,
Cortisol issues are common with prolonged stress and chronic illness such as unrecognised or ill managed hypothyroidism. The adrenals become fatigued through low thyroid hormone by having to produce additional cortisol, until reserves eventually run low when adrenaline is used instead.
The initial elevated cortisol will slow TSH production by messing with the hypothalamic-pituitary feedback, leading to lower TSH production and resulting in low DHEA which is a precursor to all of your major sex hormones (estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone) and impair thyroid hormone conversion (T4 to T3), as will the eventual low cortisol levels.
Supplementing the whole adrenal glandular is considered more complete and the adrenaline contained in this shouldn’t be a problem for HIGH cortisol secretion (which dominates all other hormones) but people with low cortisol levels may be intolerant of the adrenaline as are usually running on it anyway, so should consider Adrenal Cortex Extracts (ACE).
Adrenal function can be improved with optimal levels of thyroid hormone and Vit B12, Vit D, folate and ferritin and also supplementing a Vit B Complex ,Vit C, Vit E and Fish Oil.
The HPA - axis (hypothalamus - pituitary - adrenal) is a set of direct influences// feedback interactions that control reactions to stress, regulates digestion, the immune system, mood and emotions, sexuality, energy storage//expenditure. Any hormone insufficiency will have direct repercussions and also further up the line as all hormones depend on each other. Sugar issues are common in hypothyroidism when cortisol may be released to try to restore blood sugar balance.

M3F8Px You will need to start your own thread with your question. The only person who will receive notification of your message in this thread is Caralee as your reply is in response to her first post. This type of forum doesn't bump old posts back up to the top of the page so they just get further down the page and disappear.
I suggest you explain what xanax is, most people might not know, and give some background information about yourself eg, diagnosed hypo, what meds, etc.
