I have just received my T3 from Greece. I am not quite sure how much to take. I am on 75mcg of levothyroxine.

Tanya-B You need to post your current FT4 and FT3 results, done at the same time, so members experienced with combining Levo and T3 can offer guidance. It's not possible to suggest anything without seeing these results as you may, or may not, need to reduce Levo.

25mcg of T3 is equal (in its effect) to around 100mcg of T4. I'd take 1/2 for a couple of days to begin with with one full glass of water when you get up and wait an hour before eating. After a couple of days I'd add another 1/4 always being aware of how you 'feel'.The link below will be helpful.

I am sure you will find a benefit. Take pulse/temp before you begin and it can help keep an eye on things. i.e. you may feel quite hot but temp might not have increased much.

I use a pill cutter and it doesn't have to be strictly accurate. After a few days I'd take 1 pill.

Reading SeasideSusie 's comment. Are you thinking of adding T3 to your T4 or T3 only.

Yes you can take both together. Therefore, I'd take 50 levo and quarter tablet of T3 for a few days, then add another which would take you to around approx the effect of 100mcg of levo. Going by how you 'feel'. If symptoms still annoying you can increase around every week but keep on the same doses for a number of days and be patient till you feel stable and well. Any palps/too hot, drop to previous dose and that should be your 'optimum'.

Bloods done last week are freeT4 11.3 (9-24) and the T3 it says Total T3 is 1.4 (0.9-2.8 )

Tanya_B,

FT4 is low so I would not reduce 75mcg Levothyroxine. I suggest you quarter the 25mcg tablet and take 6.25mcg with your Levothyroxine to see how well you tolerate it. If all is well you can take a 2nd 6.25mcg dose at bedtime two weeks later. You should hold at 12.5mcg for 6-8 weeks and have a thyroid test including FT3 before increasing further.
