Could it be gout? I think it usually affects the toes and feet, but it might affect the hands in some cases I suppose?
Hi - I don't suffer from this thankfully but am aware that food allergies and intolerances can cause such reactions. Are you a dairy eater? If so you could try cutting it out completely for a month and see if there's any improvement? Dairy can often be the culprit behind skin problems.
Hi,
My daughter had a severe allergic reaction, ulcataria and agodema in hospital for 11 days, she is intolerant to wheat but not gluten, she has also had a misdiagnosed under active thyroid which we have found out has been for some time, she has had a scalloped tongue since the reaction started we assumed this was the reaction, but I have since seen this is the thyroid causing the tongue to scallop. The hands started the same time, she has pains all over, the thyroid meds have only been for one month I know it takes time to get right again.
i dont get it in my hands but i get it in my feet, heels and ankles, it is excruciating and sometimes i can not even stand on them. When i first started on ndt it just went so it is deff thyroid related for me. I occasionally have relapses of it and it is awful, i was told lack of vit B6 and that has helped but not always. I am on T3 only now due to pooling and RT3 so i think not having the T4 part of ndt in storage leaves me open to it reoccurring.
I use ice packs to help the pain which helps and when really bad a tens machine, pain killers take the edge off. I have periods when no pain at all and i suspect this is when i am optimally medicated, i burn thro my t3 very fast but will revert back to ndt soon, hopefully that will be the end of it.
I hope you find your trigger as if its like mine, it is an utter misery xx
When my feet are that painful, I have to wear Crocs. They have enough sturdy support so that I can walk.
thank goodness for crocs, likewise they are the only shoes that dont put pressure on my feet, when im wearing crocs family know im in pain.
Binkie, Could you have this maybe? Quite a few people with Erythromelalgia (usually abbreviated to EM for ease of pronunciation!) also have thyroid disorder. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eryth...
My hands and feet did that once. Turned out to be allergy to a medication. Not thyroid meds.
I got this when I had general swelling all over. Is this only on your hands though?
Hi not it was both her hands and feet, but she is using crutches and the hands are much worse from the pressure,
