I understand there is a genetic link with thyroid disease, but can it still be genetic on the paternal side? Myself my half sister (same father) auntie and two great aunties on my father side have all been affected?

Genetic link?
Bizzilizzi71,
You inherit your genes from your mother and your father so you can have inherited a genetic predisposition from your father's side of the family.
Hi I was adopted. I found both my sisters in my 40's. We have only the same mother.
We all had our gallbladders removed in our 60's. In our late 60's we have all developed Thyroid trouble. I have had mine removed.
My mother had no problems with her auto immune system that we know of, but another girl cousin has had her gallbladder removed.
Unfortunately for us.
I had never smoked, drink very little and have always eaten a healthy
diet. My adopted mother had been overprotected with covering me up it was a family joke hence my extremely low Vit D level. I only found out about Vit D on this site. So thanks for all the help.
