Can anyone tell me what this means please, I have been on 100mcg levo for over 2 yrs and every time its tuned down to 75mcg I return to lethargy, weight gain, etc..so this time followed advice on here and did not take the pill until after the test...
RESULTS
SerumTSH level (XaELV) below range result 0.06mlU/l (0.35 -4.5)and states Below low reference limit.
The TSH doesn't mean anything much. Your FT4 is in a good place, but your FT3 isn't even quite mid-range, which means that your conversion isn't brilliant. But, how do you feel with these levels? That's the most important thing.
My first thought was the same as Greygoose, conversion not brilliant and maybe the addition of a small amount of T3 is the answer. Or supplementing with selenium helps conversion. But also, low nutrients could mean your Levo isn't working that well, low ferritin in particular as it needs to be a minimum of 70 for thyroid hormone to work properly. Have you had the following tested:
Vit D
B12
Folate
Ferritin
If so, post the results for comment. If not either ask your GP to do them or do them privately with a fingerprick test from Blue Horizon, they come as part of a thyroid bundle - Thyroid Plus Eleven.
Thank you they did my bloods so will ask for the above levels on Friday, I will get selenium interim, I used to take that a long time ago had thyroid since 2012 .. ongoing probs but mostly feel more me on 100 the 75 is a crash ratio worn out tired and zero energy! I have a very severe genetic condition on top of this which was diagnosed in 2007 and mostly has taken the bulk of my young lungs 45 when diagnosed its a sister disease to Cystic Fibrosis , called Alpha One Antitrypsin Deficiency many alpha's suffer with thyroid . Its massively connected. So struggle with this and ongoing on top of my little lung function walking daily is keeping me level so vital I have that extra energy ..! I might go private if it carry's on know nothing on T3 and conversions it has taken me a decade to understand AATD .. because it is something many GP's and even Consultants know little one, thankfully I have alpha specialists here in UK...so finding this appalling that thyroid is going so neglected alongside what I already have! ..Anyone recommend a local thyroid specialist near Totnes, Newton Abbot , Devon? I will put up the results and if they don't have them be sure to ask them to re do the tests¬! Many thanks for the good advice!
Checked with Doc my levels were all okay last year and he felt not needed for re test. Ferritin is 78 , so started the sel and will see how it helps , for now ...anyway! If its still reading like I need a drop on levo in 3 months will ask to be referred to a Specialist, obviously something wrong with me if I can't adjust it down without crashing to 75mcg but the 100 keeps showing too much.. He is good and listens to me at least! He asked how I feel and I said I feel better on higher dose so we are leaving this for 3 months. Anyone know of or can refer me to a Thryoid man privately will be happy to pay and get this sorted once and for all I live in South Devon..please let me know . I will update as we go on but thanks in advance for the help its super you guys are here and know your stuff!!
