When in menstrual cycle do you have your blood test?

When in your menstrual cycle do you usually have your blood drawn? Do you try to keep it the same cycle day or does it not matter?

If you've had it drawn different days could you see a difference in tsh levels, if so how?

Thank you! What days in the cycle have you had your tsh tested? They were the same?

My so called Hertoghe doctor in Belgium always tells me to have labs on day 21 of cycle, when I've been on Estrogel for 16 days and Utrogestan (progesterone) for 6 days respectively (I have used these supplements for the past five years). My OB-Gyn, however, told me recently to go to the lab on day three of period...which I have never done before. This time, both levels indicated menopause, although I am still having regular periods (just turned 48). So, in my case, there was a huge difference between going to the lab on day 21 of cycle and day three of my period. I cannot tell which method is the best (if indeed there is such a thing as the best method); I guess it depends on what you are looking for...

However, it was pretty confusing as my OB-Gyn also had LH and FSH level tested, and they were the levels you'd expect to find in a woman still having periods so, quite honestly, I am not sure what my OB-Gyn wanted to achieve...she told me I was fine and could expect to have periods for at least two or three more years...I have not told her about seeing this Hertoghe doctor and taking a bunch of natural hormones, for the simple reason my OB-Gyn is very conventional. For instance, she insists my TSH is too low (it's actually suppressed), and that I need to go back on T4 drugs only until my TSH normalises...

Thanks!

What were your tsh on the different days?

The same - <0.01. It's been that low ever since I went on NDT. My OB-Gyn, like most doctors, only cares about my TSH, and not at all about my free Ts...sigh.
