Definitely no more insomnia now if only my bladder wouldn't wake me two or three times a night I'd be out cold for eight hours
thanks for your reply. Mind if I ask how much you take and times you take please.
I'm on 1.5 Grains in the morning and bloods are normal range however rarely get a decent nights sleep or have much energy. (can't be sure if it's Thyroid or sleep deprivation!) Folk on this forum always seem to be on around 2.5-3 grains so can't help wondering about my dose?
best, richard.
I only take 1 1/2 Thyroid S and take it just before I get into bed. What are your blood results? You need optimal rather than 'normal' or 'in range'
Linda
thank you for your interest . .ok, here goes 'cos it's all a bit gobbledygook to me . . . also I was taking NDT called NB . . .same dosage felt stronger (not pleasant at all) and the doctor told me my results were high so I switched back to WP brand but haven't had a test since unfortunately.
Serum TSH level .09 mlU/L 0.35 - 4.94mlU/L
Serum free T4 level 12.3 pmol/L 9.01 - 19.05pmol/L
Serum Free T3 9.5 pmol/L 2.63 - 5.70pmol/L
You're ft3 was a bit high... have you had B12, folate, FERRITIN, (sorry about capitals, my spellcheck keeps putting ferreting if I don't lol) and vitamin D checked? getting them right,( also optimum not just in range) can make a big difference to how you feel
no, no other checks . . are they commonly available NHS . . . or hideously expensive private ones?
I've never heard of the term optimum in Thyroid context ?
Last time I checked . .. there wasn't a ferret in but I will get my G.P. to have a look. Can't be too careful!
So sorry, having problems with tablet and internet. Your GP can get all these tests done... can. If not via the thyroid uk website you can get private test from Blue Horizon, Thyroid 10 is the one I do, £79 and you can do it yourself at home by finger prick, microtainer. At least then you have a full picture... well fuller but that is just my personal opinion and I am a control freak ;p As Clutter asked, did you take NDT before your blood test?
Hi, I'll try to get tests done with my GP and if not will have a go privately. No I hadn't taken meds before test but pretty sure it was unusually high as with the same amount of WP NDT my tests were normal before. NP is a stronger med it seems. I'm going to try night time regime and see if it helps with symptoms
forgive me if you see this same message I sent to another kind replier it was as follows:

I take 4 but I do sometimes wake suddenly at about 4am every morning and then go back to sleep. It was with me though the actual getting off to sleep that was the problem for me. I don't have that now. May be with trying to increase a little more but depends if you feel OK in other ways.
Yes take mine before bed and sleep really well. I also cut out caffeine after 5pm and that's helped with it also.
Whats NDT? I have an Under Active Thyroid. I have had my T3 meds cut to 50% and now I sleep for Britain. usually 11 hours. And have a power nap mid afternoon, surly that cant be right?
It's natural dessicated thyroid hormone in tablet form it contains t4 and a small amount of t3. It derives from pigs or cows thyroid hormoanes. It was basically used for many years before what is used on the nhs was introduced.
Have you had any recent bloods done? T3 gives you energy so the sudden cut in meds may have hit you hard. It depends if your body converts t4 to t3 OK though. I am assuming you don't if you were on t3. You can purchased t3 from Greece quite cheaply x
Hi Katie,
Not sure I'm interested in Animal Thyroxin! But yes your right I don't convert T4 to T3 which is why its such a blow that it wont be prescribed any more unless.......
I do have the contacts of a couple of suppliers who I can order online with.
Cheers
Well that's entirely up to yourself I was just answering the question of what it is which you asked.
Personally I take it and I am not vege so don't have a problem with taking it. It works for a lot of people and my bloods are now top of the range. I was terrible on levo but everyone is different and everything is entirely up to yourself. Hope you get your t3 sorted and feel better soon.
