saltcoats I've just looked back at your previous thread about vitamins and minerals and saw that you'd made a couple of new posts - I didn't get notification of them. If you want people to get notified of your messages you need to either tag them by putting @ directly in front of their name (no space) and click on their name when the list of suggested members comes up, it will highlight it in blue then send a message to the member that they've been mentioned. Or you reply directly under their message in their message box :)

I assume you're taking the Jarrows B Right? As this contains 400mcg methylfolate then assuming you don't have any absorption problems that should raise your folate level but it takes time. I used Thorne Basic B and I retested after 2.5 months, it went from bottom of range to top of range in that time. Eating leafy greens also helps raise folate level.

For your ferritin, it's said half way through range is recommended. Your range is quite wide, my range was 20-150. I've also seen it said that for females then 100-130 is best. If you're not going to eat liver then you'll need an iron supplement. Start off with Ferrous Fumarate (buy from Amazon) and take one tablet twice a day with 1000mcg Vit C which aids absorption and helps prevent constipation. Finish the packet (usually 84 tablets) then re-test to ensure you don't go too high (too much iron is as bad as too little). Take iron supplements four hours away from Levo, other supplements and medication as it affects their absorption.

If you don't get on with Ferrous Fumarate (constipation or tummy problems) then you could try Iron Bisglycinate (such as Solgar Gentle Iron) which is more gentle as it contains a lot less elemental iron - 20mg compared with 65mg in Ferrous Fumarate. I couldn't get on with Gentle Iron, nor a supplement containing just 5, my elemental iron, hence eating liver and then I didn't have to worry about timing with Levo or anything else.

By the way, if you are a meat eater then adding some minced liver to things like cottage pie, curry, casserole, bolognese, etc, is one way of eating it without really noticing it. Also if you eat pate then chicken liver pate would be a source of iron.

No problem, sorry I didn't see it. Unlike some forums, this one doesn't nudge old posts back to the top of the page when a new reply is posted so they just disappear. Using the reply button in the message box you're replying to (like you've just done) is enough for an automatic notification to be sent to the member you want to alert.

saltcoats It's a good idea to test your thyroid levels now, the effect of an increase in Levo would have fully taken place after 6 weeks.

Two months may not be enough to make a great deal of difference to your ferritin, but it's worth doing to see how it's going. It will be worth seeing how the others are going as well.
