A generous dose of thyroid hormones which suit you should help a lot. It is a clinical symptom of hypothyroidism and before blood tests etc doctors recognised nearly all symptoms, mucin being one of the commonest. This might be interesting:-

Thank you Shaws, so it would appear I am still not at the correct level of thyroid hormones then.

I am going to do another blood test with Blue Horizon, see if they can give me some answers.

Thank you for the link xx

A very interesting article but not sure about the nutritional recommendation to take iodine.

no - we avoid iodine as it is already in levo, so I believe.

Hi there

I did some lymphatic drainage massage and that helped to shift some of it.

I've been doing a Paleo diet since Sept and that has made me lose a lot of weight (over a stone so far). The mucin on my lower arms has completely cleared (I had 'fat' wrists!) and is moving from my upper arms and thighs.

Still doing the lymphatic drainage as well and it's helping a lot

Good luck

Hi, that is really useful thank you. I will give it a try xx

Well, you know, the water is moving, I'm sure, but not sure the mucin is. The water can leave, but the mucin can still stay there, ready to fill with water again. That's been my experience, anyway.

Hi greygoose,

So it doesn't look like I can do anything about the musin.

It is so uncomfortable and doesn't help when you hurt everywhere .

What is involved with the lymphatic drainage? where do you get this done please?

I have this all under my chin and jawline, starting to look like a saggy baggy chin which I did not expect to have at this age! I can't look in the mirror, it's awful! One side more than the other too!

Also my knees are twice the size because of mucin deposits. GP doesn't recognise it as anything to treat even though I've told her is hypothyroidism, in fact it was the first symptom I had that made me realise that the diagnosis of Chronic/Fatigue/M.E. was wrong, and how I found this group!

I would love to get rid of this, or improve it, but I'm 3yrs down the line and hypo symptoms still not budging.

Hi jbthyro,

I think lymphatic drainage is done through massage . xx
