Dando,

The thyroid results you posted last week are euthyroid (normal). I don't think T3 or NDT will be helpful.

In many people results don't mean anything. I always had perfect thyroid results and still I was dying and nobody knew why. I lost my mind, body, everything, I was an invalid waiting to die. Until finally I was rushed into hospital in the first stage of myxedema coma. Realization that people who have cellular resistance to thyroid hormone or those who convert T4 into rT3 (unuseful form of T3) can have normal TSH, FT3 and FT4 and can still be very sick or they life could be in danger saved my life.

Hi Margaretx

I totally relate to your post. I too have cellular resistance to thyroid hormone. For years Dr's and endo's have said there's nothing's wrong as thyroid tests continually showed my levels to be in range. A private blood test revealed my RT3 to be well over range but still o help from GP. My cortisol levels were all over the place too. My temps have hovered around 96 and below for years, hair loss, weight gain, depression, you name it, I had it! Now self medicating with help from Dr Peatfield and for the first time in years I'm getting my life back.

It's just makes me so sad when I think how many people besides you and me are there, all around the world, badly treated or not treated because of their normal results. We are people, we are not some numbers on the paper, what we feel is more important than what some lab says. Doctors simply don't understand that, in fact I think it's easier for them "not to understand".

My GP openly admits she doesn't know enough about it. I'm so disappointed with the endo I saw a few times privately. He continued to tell me he didn't understand why I felt totally fatigued as high T3 blood results are indicative of hyperthyroidism. I tried to explain its because I was resistant and pooling T3. It was like talking to a brick wall, I gave up in the end but he truly made me feel like I was imagining my symptoms which were, at that time, horrendous.

I do hope you are getting the help you need to feel better.

Has your cortisol been tested? NHS will do 9am fasting blood test but private saliva test gives more info. Also have you tried giving up gluten and sugar?

Not what you're looking for?
