Just want to say how grateful I am to everyone on this forum. Just asked my doctor to test t3 and t4 he usually only tests TSH. After showing him info I got from this forum showing some people need to take both t3 and t4 he agreed. Wow! I had info at my fingertips that was accurate and it made a big difference. Thankyou. Now I will find out my numbers.

Nanny23 That's good that your GP listened to you and agreed :) . Hopefully the lab will do the FT4 and FT3. Sometimes they wont do the extra tests, particularly FT3, if TSH is in range. It seems they have the last word even when the tests are requested by the GP. Fingers crossed for you. If they wont do them you can always do them privately with a fingerprick test, many of us do that.

if the lab doesn't carry out the tests , just politely and forcefully remind your gp that HE/SHE is responsible for your health AND that they are paying for the tests requested AND NOT THE LAB ....... they will then have no alternative but to carry them out and notify your gp ........it has worked for us on many occasions and our gp actually checks every time he gets results from the lab he uses and if any are missing he contacts them immediately ........ all tests have to be done at the same time to give a correct full profile for treatment
