t3 to NDT

Hi I take t3 only at the moment and want to try NDT.I take 10 mcg t3 0500 20 t3 10.00 10 t3 at 1600.Can any tell me how to transition.Thanks.

Susiebow,

40mcg T3 is equivalent to roughly 1.75grains NDT. You can split into 2 or 3 doses.

Hi Clutter,so would I stop ,say evening dose and take half a grain for a week or 2 weeks then stop my 10 .00 dose and add half a grain for a week or two ,then slowly raise doses till up to 2 gains I am really worried about going more hyper or hypo.

You are already taking 40mcg T3 which is more than the T3 in 1.75 grains of NDT so you can switch over tomorrow without building up gradually. You can increase in 1/4 grain increments every couple of weeks, if necessary, but it would be sensible to have a thyroid test including FT3 6-8 weeks after starting 3 grains.

Hi Clutter ,I must be really thick ,I take 40 mcg t3 which is roughly eqivalant to 120 mcg thyroxine now but want to take equivalent in total NDT only ,I thought there was 18 mcg t3 and 78mcg t4 in wp NDTthyroid 2 grains ,which would be roughly equivalent to 134 thyroxine. If I stopped t3 it would take time for t4 to build up.Is this right ,so muddled.
