What does the numbers in bracket mean?

Hello all. I requested my results from my doctor and this is what he gave me.

He said my TSH is 0.5 which apparently is fine but was just wondering what the numbers in the brackets mean?

Rolo36 The numbers in brackets indicate the reference range. Therefore, your result of 0.5 falls in the lower part of a range of 0.27-4.20 and for a treated hypo patient that is a good place to be as long as you feel well. Ranges vary from lab to lab throughout the country.

Thank you for reply. I feel okay but ever since I've been on Levo I've had a very badly bloated stomach.

they are the reference ranges that the lab uses ...... but you do need a full profile of t3,t4,ferretin,follate, vitd3 ,vitb12 as well as tsh to show your true situation for the correct treatment if nessesary to be optimum

Thank you. My doctor won't do a T3 test for some reason.

Rolo36 I've just had a quick look through another of your posts and it was suggested you get full thyroid and vitamin and mineral tests done, and here you say your GP won't test for FT3 - well that is very common. Even when GPs request it, it can be left off as it's the lab who decides if it gets done and usually only when there's something drastically wrong with TSH and FT4. Mine was done when TSH was suppressed and FT4 very high over range.

As you are taking B Complex and D3, have you had any tests? Excess D3 is stored so you need to know your level before supplementing, and retest I when taking it. Also D3 has co-factors - K2-MK7 and magnesium - are you also taking these.

The best thing you can do is a private fingerprick test through Blue Horizon to get a full thyroid picture and see what levels your vits and mins are at bluehorizonmedicals.co.uk/T... When you have the results, make a new thread and members can comment.
