T3 dose

Hi I've just received my T3 which i ordered online and wondering how much to take . I currently take 100 levo I know from previous post my T3 and T4 are low .Could someone advice my T3 are 25s .

I'm sure that someone more knowledgeable than me will come along and give you a more detailed answer soon but I started off low and slow. I used a pill cutter to quarter the tablets and started by adding 6.25mcg T3 to my levo for a couple of weeks just to see how I got on with it.

The effect on my concentration was great. I even managed to hold a conversation without stopping to think of the words I wanted to say.

I've gradually increased T3 and decreased levo over the last last 9 months and am now on T3 only 50mcg split into morning and bedtime doses.

I definitely feel better for it but still have a way to go yet.

Your previous results show your T4 was low so you will not have to reduce Levothyroxine when introducing T3.

T3 is 3 x as powerful as T4 and has a short half life, meaning its effects are felt straight away. It would be best if you can half & quarter a 25mcg T3, so enabling a starting dose of 6.25mcg taken with your levo in the morning.

If after a week no unwanted effects are felt it would be safe to increase dose to 12.5 mcg T3, split into two doses am & pm. Multi dosing helps to reduce the rapidity of onset and prolong the duration of T3's action. If all is well increase another 6.25mcg a week later and then another 6.25mcg a week after that.

Hold for six weeks and retest hormones to see where you are (members use private labs when GP's are uncooperative - link below) and post results complete with ranges (numbers in brackets) for members to comment. Medicating T3 may lower//suppress your TSH and if you have blood tests through your GP, he will not understand the results.

It is common to feel inner heat and possibly a headache for a few days when initially starting T3. It is vital to start low & slow because it is so easy to become over medicated. Some members find taking temps and pulse is helpful in assessing health//tolerence progression.

Medicating T3 and also supplementing 100-200mcg selenium will help thyroid hormones convert giving you a little extra T3 on top of that you are medicating. Optimal nutrients will further help thyroid hormone synthesis. Have you had Vit D tested ? ? ..

Hi Radd thank you for your reply .I have split my tablet into quarters and will start taking a quart twice a day for a few weeks to see how I go x I already take selenium each morning but not had Vit D done so will get that checked .Mt next blood test is in Feb with the doctor but mat get a private one done before x 😆
