Serum free triiodothyronine level 4.8 pmol/L [3.0 - 6.0] - is this a good level?
Is serum free triiodothyronine level T3? - Thyroid UK
Is serum free triiodothyronine level T3?
It is just above halfway through the range. What is your ft4? If that is also halfway through the range it suggests reasonable conversion but if it is at top of the range suggests not. Also what medication are you on? If you are taking ndt or any t3 it would also suggest a different interpretation. Basically you need to give more info for an answer.
Thyroid function test
Serum TSH level 2.4 mu/L [0.4 - 5.5]
Serum free T4 level 15.9 pmol/L [11.0 - 26.0]
Serum free triiodothyronine level 4.8 pmol/L [3.0 - 6.0]
Taking 50mg Levo thyroxine feeling awful still but having test as pituitary playing up.
Wondering if T3 would help x
Those results suggest that you are converting but your TSH could be lower so an increase in levothyroxine might help. It can complicate matters when there is a pituitary problem as of course TSH is produced by the pituitary. I believe if the pituitary is unreliable then TSH is meaningless and the endos should prescribe according to ft3 and ft4 plus symptoms. I hope you get some answers soon and that you start to feel better. Good luck
Should I ask the doctor to increase my Levo or try T3?
I.m gonna order some T3 I have nothing to loose, and can't continue like this, has been my day off and have lacked energy as do daily. Got a funny fuzzy head and weight a real concern gained 3 stone since January.
You need to increase the T4 before embarking on T3 in my non-medical opinion. I read often here that people think that T3 will solve problems of weight - energy and so on.
First of all you need to have GOOD levels of B12 - FERRITIN - FOLATE - VITD for the small dose of Levo to work and for you to feel well.
You need good foundations before building your palace Have you had the above tested - ? - if so what were the results with ranges. I know we all want to run before we can walk - but it can be a mistake.
Everyone here will give you support on your journey - so keep posting and asking questions. Of course your FT3 is low in range as your dose of Levo is also small. Have you had your anti-bodies tested ?
I have been on T3 for over 3 years and not lost weight goodness knows what I am doing wrong ???
Thanks for your advice any is greatly received. I had high antibodies at the beginning of the year. I am taking B12 and selenium supplements. Do I take a supplement to increase my vitamin d and ferritin? My foliate was not too bad but had room for improvement. I.m going to try and contact my Endo and see if I can increase T4.
