I know this has nothing to do with thyroid but I'm confused.
I started the pill in may my period stopped straight away I have taken it everyday tjis is start of the fourth month and my period started again this morning.
I haven't had a nose bleed for the time I haven't had a period but had one this morning. Any ideas please.
The devil pill - sorry Cerelle made my hair fall out after I sorted everything else out and was on optimal levels.
In regards to you randomly starting periods after months of nothing when I was looking into the side effects of desogestrel (the active ingredient in Cerelle) some women reported their periods just randomly starting after months of nothing. These periods were all over the place. Others reported near continuous bleeding either from the word go or after having no periods for a while. It didn't matter whether they had any other medical conditions or not but that's the side effect many had.
Other side effects women have listed include dryness everywhere e.g. hair, skin, vagina, lack of libido and mood problems.
in regards to the periods the manufacturers of Cerelle and Cerazette state it is a very common side effect and you are suppose to put up with it unless it is very heavy.
Although when I was initially reading the drug information this side effect wasn't listed as common - in other words the drug manufacturers were hiding the clinical research data of the side effects. However it seems that because women were filling in yellow cards/reporting problems that more of the clinical research data has since been published.
Anyway you can read there information yourself here:
if you are really unhappy with the bleeding go back to the doctor/family planning nurse and ask for a different pill. Though your doctor/nurse may try and insist on you being on that pill as it's suppose to be more effective than the older pills - though maybe because if you are bleeding all the time, etc you won't want and have sex anyway.
In regards to the nose bleeds unfortunately while I know people who suffer a lot of them including a sibling the actual cause has never been determined and it's put down to random thinks like the weather or their hormones.
I was told by a doctor (many years ago) that the hormones that induce your uterus to slough off its lining may also dilate capillaries elsewhere, like inside the nose, increasing the risk of nosebleed around the time a period might start. Is it true? No idea.
