Could any one tell me if timer is helped with their fibro pain. I rub magnesium oil into affected area and it helps a lot of the time but not always. Also what are the main triggers for a fibro attack? Thanks

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2000 and Hashimotos in 2005. The only thing that cured the aches and pains was treating the thyroid optimally and also correcting the vitamin deficiencies. I also have Crohns - and have spent years healing my gut with success.

Do you have any gut issues ? Is your thyroid well treated ? Are you taking the correct supplements ?

Are you gluten free ? That could be something that triggers a flare of pain .......

Ands Marz Yes I am gluten free. Have been for about 6 months now. I take multi vit B vit D cod liver oil caps zinc with copper Vit C

Q10 and sometimes B12 sublingual.

It has taken me almost 3 years to reduce thyroid anti-bodies with a gluten free diet.

Do you have Hashimotos ? Any Thyroid levels to share ?

Yes I have Hashimotos. My last test was T4 20 and TSH

0.03.

Sylvia22 There is not FT3 result - so how do you know if the FT4 is converting into the ACTIVE thyroid hormone T3 ??

As others have suggested - Fibro often = LOW T3. What dose of T4 are you on ?

My Doctor doesn't test T3. Will ask for it. I am on 125 thyroxine. In between bouts of fibro I feel quite good. Can't fathom out what triggers the attacks.

Sorry but it IS the most important test to have - so you could have your next thyroid check done privately through Thyroid UK ....

Thanks Marz. I will ask my Doctor first and if not will try a private one.

If you are hypo, you might not need the copper. Did you have it tested before starting to supplement? Did you have the B12 and vit D tested? If so, what were the results, and how much of each are you taking?

It was some time ago now and I can't remember what they were. B12 500 vit D 1000iu. Vit C 1000

So, you have no idea if you're on the right doses.

Vit C you can take more than that, if it helps.

Try stopping the copper and just taking zinc for a while, see what happens. It worked for me.

I have quite long periods where I have little or no pain then suddenly it's there again. What are the usual triggers Thanks for the advice about the copper.

Triggers for fibro? Low T3.

am intrigued as to how they diagnose fibro?

Marz profile image
Marz in reply toJefner

Jefner fibro is diagnosed by having at least 14 matching painful spots on both sides of the body. Well that used to be the case ehen I was diagnosed back in 2000.

Sadly no Thyroid tests or vitamin deficiencies checked. No treatment either. Sleeping for hours on end was my only prescription until I was diagnosed with Hashimotos in 2005 .
