Nessiam,

I assume you are taking NDT or T4+T3 because TSH is suppressed, FT4 low in range, and FT3 top of range. You appear to be optimally medicated.

B12 and folate are good.

Ferritin is low in range, halfway through range is optimal. Ferritin can be raised by supplementing iron with 500-1,000mg vitamin C to aid absorption and minimise constipation. Iron should be taken 4 hours away from thyroid meds and you should retest 4-6 months after starting to supplement.

Thank you for the response, Clutter ! Is bad that my TSH is suppressed and t4 low?? My doctor said I have hyper now so what do I do? My appointment with my endo isn't for another 2 months!! I'm just nervous because I feel worse and worse everyday.

Nessiam,

Low TSH doesn't mean you are over medicated. FT4 and FT3 would be over range if you were hyper. It's possible that FT3 top of range is too high for you and might making you feel unwell so you might consider reducing dose slightly.

Interesting, I was definitely planning on lowering my dose and seeing how I feel. I'll start tomorrow, thank you!

What are you taking and what is your dose?

I was on T3 only when these labs were taken but now I just switched back to NDT 2 grains.

Have you had vitamin D level checked?

Do you supplement?

Do you have Hashimoto's (high antibodies)?

If you do are you gluten free?

Yes, I was very deficienct about 8 months ago and now I'm actually too high and have to stop supplementing. I have an autoimmune disease but my doctor thinks it's lupus &/or fibromyalgia. I'm going to a rheumatologist next month.

Does this mean you don't have high thyroid antibodies?

When I've felt bad, my doctor has tested for other antibodies, including lupus, as having one autoimmune condition can increase the risk of others occurring, especially if there's a family history.

My Ana test came back positive if that's what you're asking?

Your reply to SlowDragon makes it sound as if your doctor thinks you have lupus/fibromyalgia rather than Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroid disease).

A test for TPO antibodies is usual, to confirm autoimmune thyroiditis.

So are you 100% gluten free?

Yes, completely. No relief.
