ButterflyG Those tests can be obtained without a private doctor with an easy fingerprick test at home by Blue Horizon. You need a Thyroid Plus Eleven. Go to Thyroid UK's main website and go to their Testing page > Private Testing > Blue Horizon for information.
But you can also ask your surgery for any tests you've had done with them, you are legally entitled to them under the Data Protection Act although they may make a small charge for printing. There is a reason why your GP has reduced your levo, presumably because of recent test results but he's obviously not taking your symptoms into account. 75mcg is a small dose anyway and 50mcg is basically a starter dose.
Once we can see what your results are like then members can make suggestions, but vitamins and minerals all need to be at optimal levels for thyroid hormone to work so the BH test is very valuable in that respect if your GP won't do those tests.
You can email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk for a list of thyroid friendly doctors, I'm afraid I don't know of any in your area.
