Doctors will come out with any old rubbish to get rid of you! It doesn't necessarily have to be based on truth!
It could very well be that your remaining half gland is unable to produce enough hormone to keep you well - often happens - but you will only know by seeing your blood test results. Have you got a copy? If not, ask for one - it's your legal right to have one under the Data Protection Act.
If you post them on here - with the ranges - we can see exactly what the results were, and what was tested. Otherwise, we'll just be groping around in the dark.
I am going to get renewed bloods done soon and will get a copy and post.
They have previously show as NHS 'normal range' which I've read aren't necessarily so as wide ranged. Also is there a possible conversion issue.
What I need is to see a Thyroid/pituitary specialist that will also consider my symptoms. Having only ever seen a Diabetis Endo especially who after 18 months agreed he has little knowledge in Thyroid/pituitary, atrophied or not. He also said NHS will only ever act on abnormal bloods grrrr!
I will be requesting referral to a thyroid/pituitary specialist via my go but struggling to know who to suggest to see as gp will ask me.
Why don't you post another question asking if someone can recommend a specialist? Because I think and endo that specialises in the pituitary is pretty hard to come by.
