Hi llloyd, welcome to the forum.

Do you have any labs to share with us? It's important to know exactly what has been tested, and what the results were.

Breathing problems can be caused by many things. For example, low T3, low vit B12, low iron, etc. So, all of those need to be tested. Unfortunately, doctors these days don't do all the relevant tests! So, post what you've got on here, with ranges, and let us have a look. :)

Hi Lloyd, I thought nasal polyps could be removed?? I am sure my cousin has had it done, I must check now. Can I ask what kind of breathing problems you are experiencing? Have you trouble breathing when laying down or just in general? I also have breathing problems, I used to find it almost claustrophobic when I lay down flat, but I also have sleep apnoea and small tubes evidently! I am still on oxygen at night due to pneumonia a while ago (this is when the apnoea was diagnosed). Did you have you thyroid removed during the surgery? Sorry for the questions, I am just interested in finding out all the problems we encounter mainly out of curosity. I was born with congenital hypothyroidism and only a partial gland. Been on medication all my life. Best wishes :)

That can be very frightening in itself, do you panic first that brings the anxiety on? Dare I ask if the dr's have helped in any way?

Hi Lloyd, I also have the same thing, I was diagnosed hypo three months ago. Went on 50mcg Levothyroxin as a starter dose. I then developed breathing issues about 10 weeks in like what you are describing. When I had the first one I dialled 111 and then got a docs appointment within the hour. I didn't see my doctor but another at the practice, this doctor pretty much stated it was nothing to do with my thyroid or the Levo. My results were in from the latest blood test where my TSH had gone down to 2.68 from 5.2 and T4 was 14, but that blood test was a week and a half old. He then said that is now all ok, but I was really having a bad time with the breathing almost felt overactive instead. I posted this on the ThyroidUK Facebook page and a kind lady responded and said My T4 should be at the top of the range and not the lower end. I am actually due to see my doc in a week and a half time, he specialises in diabetes, he does seem a lot better, takes time and explains things, so I will see what he says to those results. I did actually stop the Levo for a couple of weeks, but have started it again today, as the breathing issue is still there albeit more manageable, just have better days now, some days breathing is perfect so I am certainly thinking that perhaps something to do with FT4. The first episode scared my wife as well, possibly more than me. This is all new to me, so finding as much reading material and what others are experiencing is certainly helping.
