Endo and gp won't listen. I feel rubbish on levo thyroxine they won't prescribe Lio thyronine. I feel suicidal and can't stop putting on weight. They just treat ne like a junky and make me feel insane. What can I do anybody? I have no money so can't buy on internet.

The first step to getting well, is to get a print-out of your lab results, and post them on here - with the ranges. We cannot tell you anything unless we have the details : how much levo are you taking? How long have you been on that dose? Have you had your vit D, vit B12, folate and ferritin tested? They could all be low, and stopping your levo converting. So, post your labs here, and people will be able to help you, I'm sure.
Greygoose has given good advice. T3 doesn't work for everyone but it is a pity they wont even let you try to add some to your T4.
Make a new appointment for the blood test and it should be the very earliest possible and fast although you can drink water. Allow about 24 hours between your last dose of levo and the test and take it afterwards. This allows TSH to be at its highest as that's all they appear to take notice of.
Ask for T4, T3, Free T4 and Free T3 and antibodies, Vitamin B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate.
Tell your GP as you feel so bad you want thorough blood tests so you can decide what your next step is. Don't let them walk over you and be firm because you are taking the first step in trying to 'against all odds' to try to improve your health.
Get a print-out of your results with the ranges and it may be that all you need is an increase in levo if you're converting to T3 properly.
Levothyroxine is T4 and it's job is to convert to T3. T3 is the active hormone required in our billions of receptor cells otherwise we cannot function but mainly doctors keep our TSH too high for us to do so. Our TSH should be around 1 or lower and some of us need it suppressed, so get a new blood test.
T3 can be purchased very cheaply on line. I buy NDT but I think you can buy T3 for less than 10 pounds from some places. others on the forum can let you know prices and where to get it with private messages. It is not as expensive as you might think.
Rotten horrible doctors arnt they.
Change your endo.
Change your doctor and Endo!
hi and thanks for the comments. I'm quite familiar with the relationships between tsh ft3 ft4 test results and have had them all tested regularly over the last 18 months . Since total thyroidectomy in March this year I have been tested at least once a month. At the end of May my levels Were: Tsh 5.7 ft3 4.2 ft4 19.0 I was taking 125 mcg levothyroxine per day. I wasn't feeling well and couldn't stop putting on weight.
I managed to convince the endo that a small mix of liothyronine with levothyroxine might be helpful so he reluctantly agreed and prescribed 125 mcg levothyroxine and 2 x 5 mcg liothyronine daily (the liothyronine was 20 mcg tabs quartered!) After 2 weeks a test was done with following result: Tsh 0.25 ft3 7.6 ft4 22.9 the endo then immediately took me off liothyronine saying my result was "toxic". Strangely I felt the best I have for a long time and had list a little weight as well. I argued that a decrease in levothyroxine would be a better approach but endo was having none of it... So a month on 125 mcg levothyroxine I feel horrid and put on 5 kgs then a new blood test showing: Tsh 7.6 ft3 3.8 ft4 16.2 and now endo wants me to take 150 mcg levothyroxine!!! He has also said ft3 will no longer be tested only tsh and ft4 will be tested in future.... Omg I'm so depressed I tried to explain all this to the gp but he just folded his arms and said no way would he prescribe liothyronine. I feel like a cornered animal and the doctors are treating me luke a junky... I don't feel strong enough nor smart enough to take on the doctors with various tests coz they will wear me down like they already have.
