Dear All,
In response to symptoms arising from a bad dose of flu recently I dropped my Levo dosage from its long term 150 mcg down to 75mcg, the back up to 100mcg where I am now. All this in about five weeks. I think the symptoms I was experiencing were due to B12 deficiency, which I am now supplementing for and noticing a marked improvement.
I have got to remain on 100 mcg until we can test in early August but I'm convinced I need to be on 125 mcg at least. I'm seeing an endocrinologist on the 15th August.
My blood pressure has been raised throughout this period. Is it correct that both hypo and hyperthyroidism will cause elevated blood pressure? When I get my medication level right for me, will that reduce the hypertension? It should be said I was fairly fit and active before the flu but have done very little exercise since mid-March.
I'm trying to weigh up the pros and cons of several things: I want to give my system bit of consistency and not alter my levels after two week again, which can't be good for me. Hopefully this would enable me to get a reliable thyroid level test in early August, at which point we can adjust the dosage prior to seeing the endocrinologist. But I'm also concerned about the elevated blood pressure. I guess another option would be to up the dosage now which would see me testing in the w/b 15th August.
Any advice would be very gratefully received.
