I started taking Erfa NDT several weeks ago now. To start with had a terrible thyroid storm where under medicated. Since I've upped the dose the brain fog is lifting and I have energy! Now though I have an itchy rash on a lot of my body which is driving me mad. I guess this could be Lichen planus which I hear is linked to Hashimotos although I was wondering if there was anything in the Erfa which could give an allergic reaction?
Has anyone else experienced this on Erfa?
Please help.

Hi Katepots, sorry you haven't had any replies yet, so I'm answering because I too take Erfa but not experienced the rash that you explain. I'm interested in the under-medicated feeling you got from it. Which medication were you on pre-Erfa? Which dose of Erfa are you on now that you are finally feeling some benefits? Hope you don't mind me asking, it's helpful to compare that's all.
You may well have reacted to the fillers, I guess you'll only know if that's the case if you switch to another NDT brand that has different fillers to the Erfa. I wish they'd just put the pure dessicated thyroid into capsules rather than making tablets which include all these fillers and binders.
I was on100 mcgs of Levo before but felt terrible for years. Put on 60 mgs of Erfa to start which was awful, quickly upped to 90mcgs but I'm not sure that's quite enough as still a little tired. I take 60 sublingual am and 30 around 4pm which helps.
Have just ordered Thiroyd S as my pharmacist said the rash was common with Erfa, great!
That's really interesting re the rash. I haven't experienced that but I haven't regained my health properly on it and that's even on 2 grains. This issue's work in progress as we speak.....
Hope the Thyroid S is better for you. I expect it'll work out cheaper for you too if you do get on with it.
i wasi on erfa and armour..they are all the same. Terrible heart racing, trembling, sweating swelling, rashes, acne..
i am on t3 only and altho improved, not okay at all. My Hashimotos doesn't feel better with thyroid meds alone. I am working on healing my gut and food sensitivities now. i have other missing hormones too and other issues.
That's what I'm doing too re food sensitivities. It's a complete nightmare. Really thought I'd cracked it but now back to square one and feeling worse than ever.
me too..sometimes we go through withdrawal and a detox, when cutting out foods, or so they say..i don't know what to believe anymore. I have been in Hell, since 2008, with what i think was hyper and hashimotos. I had to diagnose myself in 2011..no doctor even suspected it. When i got very thin, they blamed me for Anorexia, then when i got fat, in 3 months time, they accused me of doing that too! I hate doctors. None listen or believe what i go through.
sometimes i find very little support here, especially when trying to find a way out of this mess, rather than the stand focus on labs and doses. Thyroid labs show what is available in the blood, sometimes, yet are altered by antibodies..non show how they are working in the cells..that's were symptoms come in and the doctors says.."oh, but your labs are normal, you must have another condition,,it is not your thyroid and Hashimotos has no symptoms".."here is an antidepressant and a referral to a dietician" I am so mad!!! I told the doctor that my stomach stopped digesting food, so i was not eating!!
I've only tried two NDTs - Thyroid-S and Thiroyd. I felt better on Thyroid-S than I did on Thiroyd. I know some people who have tried both and felt better on Thiroyd than Thyroid-S, and others who can't feel any difference so go for Thiroyd because it's cheaper than Thyroid-S.
I wouldn't give up until you've tried a few different brands/makes. I followed the plan of trying NDT starting with the cheapest and then working up the price ladder. I was lucky to find something workable for me very quickly. Some people take longer.
Don't assume that price is any guide to quality or likelihood of you tolerating it. Plenty of people have complained about Armour and that is the most expensive NDT in the world.
