Hi there, I'm new to the site. I've heard that thyrogold is a good product and I've got some bottles of the 150mcg tablets. I know that it will vary from person to person but does anyone know what 125mcg levothyroxine equivalent is in thyrogold?
I have been on levothyroxine since 2008 and I want to get off it as I suffer from lack of focus, low energy, awful attention span and have also recently noticed a slightly receding hairline. I've read that thyroxine can cause the hairline to recede. I just want to feel more energised and focused again.

THYROGOLD, called a “dietary supplement” to meet FDA rules, though patients report it working very well. Was created by the now-deceased John C. Lowe, and his wife currently sells it. Comes in 150 mg and 300 mg tablets. The mgs is NOT equivalent to the same mgs in prescription NDT tablets. i.e. 150 mg may be “similar in effect” to 1 1/4 grains, but that’s a subjective opinion by some. The thyroid powder in the tablets are from New Zealand pasture-fed cows, plus there is 25 mg of Coleus forskohlii, which is said to promote thyroid function. It is a popular OTC product!

If you contact Tammy who sells thyrogold I am sure she would let you know equivalent doses.
I'm getting blood tests done so I'll see what my levels are at now and then test again in a month after trying thyrogold. Just wondering though, have people gone cold turkey from levothyroxine on to thyrogold or do you try it as a gradual process?
Thanks everyone for your replies. It's very helpful to get your comments xx
I went straight from 150 mcg T4 + 25 mcg T3 to four grains of Thiroyd (140 mcg T4 + 33.24 mcg T3).
My increase of Levothyroxine was very gradual (adding 25 mcg every other day and re-testing after two months) due to palpitations, but I think they were due to being started on an antihypertensive at double the recommended dose.
Tammy Lowe started on 6 x 300 mg Thyro-Gold, which was not good for her and shows surprising lack of caution, in my opinion. Source: pauljonesblog.com/2016/05/2...
