Could you please tell me if restless legs are a side effect of T3 as I have been suffering with this for the last few nights.
Many thanks and wishing you all good health

I know it's a symptom of low iron.
I had restless legs when my ferritin was very low (4) and hemoglobin was something like 80. How are your iron levels?
I don't know but I have missed out my iron supplements lately, seems like it is a good time to start them again. Thanks.
It may be due to low ferritin or low magnesium levels.
Back to making sure I take the magnesium supplements again. It is so difficult to get all my medication and supplements in without adverse effects.
Guess I am going to learn to have to do that though. Thanks.
I had this a lot until I started taking magnesium,
Never had a problem with low iron or ferritin and my restless legs seemed to improve once B12 and Vit d levels improved. However still occasionally get the problem so will try epsom salts footbaths. It has helped with restless sleep generally. hope you find an answer to your problem.
Morning, once I started taking magnesium tablets my legs got better almost right away. I hope this helps. Restless legs, especially at night, is no fun. X
Try an electrolytic drink such as e-lyte as this will give you the correct electrolyte balance.
Possibly test to get a baseline - Genova do a Nutrient and Toxic Elements profile blood serum test which would be useful to figure out why you have restless legs in the first instance!
I also use Epsom salt baths (Magnesium Sulphate) [caution if you have low blood pressure] and Magnesium gel/oil rubbed in.
Magnesium is needed for approx 300 enzyme reactions in the body and the T3 doing it's magic inside the cells must need more as our metabolisms improve.
After testing I discovered I was low in Potassium and not Magnesium and I take a potassium citrate drink which has elevated the issue of excruciating lower leg and foot cramps.
Best Wishes

Thank you so much for that information Mourneadventurer. I googled Genova but I couldn't find out if they do these tests in the UK and noticed that pricing is not done for patients (whether that is just in the US I don't know). Any ideas on this page please!
Restless legs is a symptom of uat.
Thank you for all the suggestions to control the restless leg - I even get it standing up, and at night the bed covers can end up on top of the wardrobe! I had my Vits etc tested over a year ago when they were found to be really low, and I take Vit D, but the practice refuses to test them again. The GP suggested Tramadol as this is supposed to help, but was a bit miffed when I said why not just give me some morphine then!
Off to get some magnesium!
This forum is SO brilliant!
I was helped by iron, magnesium and potassium.
I needed to add potassium to my supplements list after I added high dose Vitamin B12.
High dose B12 can reduce potassium levels, and low potassium caused muscle twitches and jerks.
I've been getting restless legs since an 25mcg increase of levothyroxine.
My wifes doctor took a totally different angle and prescribed Ropinarole
medicinenet.com/ropinirole-...?. She takes one at bedtime and her legs are totally calm and have been for over 4 years now.
What's best for muscles problems ie: restless legs? magnesium citrate or magnesium sulphate.
