Have you tried the earls site on health unlocked. This site provides the best information on all aspects of restless leg syndrome which could be a separate issue and not necessarily thyroid related.

Hi - as you were advised in your last post, restless legs can be caused by the low nutrients associated with hypo - have you tried magnesium yet? Everything with thyroid takes patience, nothing works within a few weeks. It takes 7-10 days to feel anything from a levo dose and 6 weeks to get the full effect, so it is very early days for you still. Dose can only be raised slowly to avoid shocking the body so 25mcg maximum per raise. Do make sure you go back at 6 weeks for another blood test and ask fora copy of your results, then post them here. All blood tests should be taken as early as possible, fasting (nothing other than water since evening before) and, if you normally take your levo at night, don't take it night before and take after test. If you normally take in morning, then wait till after test.

Also you obviously had a b12 test with your gp, did they test anything else? You should go and ask for a copy of those results and post them here for advice on supplements and a rough estimate on how long it will take to reach a dose that will restore your levels of thyroid hormones.

Hang on in there, you didn't become hypo overnight and you won't recover overnight either.

I had dreadfull restless leg, flying could be unbearable with the need to get up and move my legs around. It was one of the first things that went after I had my B12 loading shots, and one of the first things to come back when my next shot is due... get your B12 tested your ferritin folate and Vit D then get your results printed and post them on the pernicious Anaemia web site..... maybe look up B12 deficiency symptoms and see if any thing fits with your symptoms, good luck and good health......

Have you been tested for SIBO? I recently read an article from Dr Isalbela Wentz which mention the two could be connected. Might be a dud avenue but worth exploring. Wish you well.

I've had and many members of my family have had Thyroid disease of one sort or another fir many years I have Graves' disease but others have Hypo and hashimotos ... ALL of us have had restless legs ..

We have all been helped and some no longer have RLS .. including myself ... it's a thing of the past ....

Magnesium ( Glycinate is the one

That I take ...

Vitamin D3 Softgels ( you could also take vitamin K +mk2 ) which

Aside from being beneficial anyway directs calcium to bones and not to tissue where it could be harmful )

Water dispersible vitamin E Capsules ( must be water dispersible )

So ...

Magnesium

D3

Vitamin E

But read above info to get the correct ones ....

Best of luck ... it works !!!

Come back and tell us if it does for you ....

Just to reinterate, along my thyroid journey I found I was t converting well. Different problem I know but shortage of supplements was the answer as it probably is for you. I upped what I was already taking and added vitamins D and co factors and yes it solved my problem but took near 6 months to do it! Don't forget not only have you to start to receives the problem. It the. Have to get things to undo the problems caused. Patience is something we should all be aware of.

Hi, I suffer from restless leg syndrome and take a cheated magnesium supplement, it relaxes the muscles and is very effective. I usually take it on an empty stomach an hour before my evening meal, which I aim to have no later than 6pm.

I hope you get some relief soon

Try taking chelated magnesium on an empty stomach at bedtime, or a >20 minute soak in a bath with at least 500g Epsom or magnesium salts.

Selenium tablets work for my wife and daughter (both on thyroid meds). Occasionally in the past my wife's inadvertantly stopped taking them. The restless leg problem then returns. That reminds her to take them again to fix the problem.
