Hi I started taking NDT 5 days ago stopped taking my Levo the day before !! Wondering if it is just a side effect from the T3 being added to my system but I am taking headaches now every day, on waking until I go to sleep is this normal ?

NDT advice
How much Levo were you taking and how much NDT are you on now? How fast is your pulse? It sounds as though you may be slightly over medicated. Either that or you need to make the change more gradually, starting with half a grain of NDT plus a lowered amount of Levo, then every 2 weeks increase the NDT by half a grain and decrease the Levo again.
I tried taking NDT once, having 1 grain instead of some of my Levo, and it had the same effect, plus made me a bit anxious (I am normally really laid back) and stopped me sleeping deeply. I decided to stick to the Levo for now and if I decide to change to NDT in the future I will do it gradually. Apparently some people take a while to get used to the T3 in the NDT.
I was on 100mcg Levo but my T3 was on the low side plus I have put more weight on for no reason ! I think I was under medicated with Levo so started off on 1 grain as been told 1 1/4 grain equated to 100 mcg Levo. I personally don't want to go back on Levo as it hasn't addressed all my under active symptoms
See how you go, it may be just from the hit of T3 that you're not used to. If it carries on or you can't stand it then try dropping down to maybe 3/4 grain and see if it helps. I was on 125 mcg levo and started on 1 grain NDT and then increased by 1/4 every 7-10 days but I have just had a hellish week feeling like my head was going to explode. I have lowered my dose and am feeling much better today. Too much T3 can cause a multitude of symptoms as I have found out so I think it's a case of slow and steady. I am positive it will be worth it as levo just didn't work. Hope you feel better soon xx
Thanks I will cut back to 3/4 of a grain for the the next week and see if my headaches subside !! I guess I'm in too much of a hurry as I am overweight coupled with high cholesterol and elicited blood pressure all because of Levo that never addressed my hatimotos 😩
I know what you mean, we just want to feel better!! I think what can happen if you raise too quickly though is that you initially feel good because of the much needed T3 but then maybe as the T4 builds up you end up being over medicated. Luckily with NDT after a few days of lowering the dose things return to normal x
Carri, I was on 100mcg Levo and when I changed over to NDT I dropped my Levo by a ¼ each week and added ¼ NDT each week. Worked upto to 3 grains, but that was over my sweet spot and dropped back down again to 2¼ grains. Slowly, slowly catchy monkey, as they say
Interesting, may I ask how long it took the transition and wath is mean 1/4levo(25mcg ?). You drop the levo first for a week and then added ndt or you added ndt for a week and then you drop your levo dose or simultaneously. And how you felt after you drop the levo.
Well I'm not taking any Levo as was advised by someone else to stop taking Levo one day and start NDT the next maybe I should have just started on 1/2 grain but the headaches are the only affect ax I don't feel jittery or any heart palpitations like I've had when on too high a dose of Levo
