Hashimotos Remission ?

Hi, has anyone actually gone into remission from hashimotos thyroiditis. Through eliminating gluten, dairy and whatever else is necessary. ? I live in hope.

I did almost eradicate my TPO's by going on a gluten and lacto free diet and felt a lot better. However I had a flare up in February (no change in diet) and not too good at moment but have discovered my TSH (annual review at GP) is over 1, which is never good news for me. So I am hoping they will increase my dose from 100mcg to maybe 125mcg alternate days. Going into battle next week!

I've taken everything out of my diet, last six months.  It's really hard but I treat my guts  with max security. But saying that I went to the gluten  free Monday's  chippy  and asked for a fish. I watched her and thought I swear she just put malt vinegar on that fish , and I thought must not be for me . Then she wrapped it and handed it to me. I said you've just put malt vinegar on it , she Said no and lifted up the gluten free vinegar next to it and I doubted myself, but after eating the yummy  fish within an hour my guts were churning and my whole body was flared up by bed time. I was having aches and pains all over my body every single little joint head to toe and muscle aches and swollen eyes. That bad from vinegar made from wheat. It was a real lesson for me. When you take stuff away then have it, the reaction is terrible if you can't tolerate it.

Start all over now. 😊

Really sorry to hear about the fish incident and yes it can be quite a bad reaction if you are sensitive. My grand daughter is very sensitive and if she is glutened she is off school for a week.

You should complain to the manager. Recent case in Leeds where a man died because he ate a curry with peanuts in it. He had told the restaurant he was allergic but they ignored him. Owner has been sent to prison!!

Most GP's and endos don't understand anything about Hashi's and usually tell you there is no treatment! I DIY as much as possible but need to have an annual review if I want my levothyroxine. The practice nurse assured me it was fine to have a blood test even though I had taken my meds and had my breakfast. She wasn't happy when I said for consisteny I always fast and miss the medication before a test! (I took the form and went to the local Sainsbury for my blood test the next day) She then insisted they would do a cholesterol test (came back fine) and I told her whatever the result I wouldn't be taking any statins!! (they made me very ill) No doubt "stroppy cow" will be in code on my notes somewhere!! But its my body and my health.

Hope you soon recover.

i happens all the time, if you find out and treat, what caused it. Often it is diet. See Dr. Isabella Wentz and Mark Hyman MD, for info. on stooping autoimmune disease..he does it all of the time.
