Every morning my husband takes his thyroxine with a drink of milk then eats breakfast and has always felt well. I do it the proper way on an empty stomach but don't feel so good. So annoying

Everyone is very different, but there is research to show that food can affect absorption of levothyroxine by up to 40%.  It is possible that your husband is over-replaced and the food and milk are helping to even things up.

On the flip side, you may not be on enough, or there may be something else going on entirely.

Can I suggest that you post your latest thyroid bloods with the ranges, also the dose and make of levothyroxine you are on.

Louise

That's a coincidence!  You both being prescribed the same amount. :D

Because everyone is different, they often need different amounts of levothyroxine.

Some people find that they get on better with one make than another. Some people don't feel well when they mix them.

You really need an FT4 result as well to get a better picture of what is going on.

..... and a FT3 - even anti-bodies - Anti-TPO and Anti-Tg.  One of you may have Hashimotos and the other Not !  Both Hubby and I have Hashimotos :-)

Jadedflower1944,

Most people will feel better with TSH 1.0 or lower. Read Treatment Options in thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_...  Email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk if you would like a copy of the Pulse article to show your GP when you request a dose increase.
