Thanks to clutter, greygoose, Marsaday and shaws for giving me the courage to try t3. I am now doing well with some minor tweaking.

So far I am now on 75mcg of levothyroxine in the morning which I take between 5.30-6.15am with 2.5mcg of Liothyronine.  I then take another 2.5mcg at lunch between 11.30-12.30 depending on when I have lunch.  Last night I thought what the hell and took an extra 2.5mcg of liothyronine just as my head hit the pillow to see if it would help my continued problem with Insomnia (i had nothing to loose as I hardly sleep anyway) and I slept properly for the first time in months!!  In total 7.5mcg a day of Liothyronine.

My constipation has improved a lot although frequency still isn't great but think this will now improve in time.

Its also a pain dosing three times a day although I am not complaining.  If this is what it takes to improve my health then great.

My question is why is the T3 helping me sleep?  Should I stick with that bed time dose and maybe miss the afternoon one as it doesn't do a lot for me.  Would prefer to take twice a day than three time.  Thinking of maybe taking 5 in the morning and stick to the 2.5 before bed now?

Thanks to anyone who answers my post.  I have really received some great advise from this place and finally woke up with some hope that I can absolutely get back to being 100%.

Some people prefer bedtime dosing instead of morning.

You can probably experiment a little with what times suit you.

I am glad the addition of T3 is helpful. It's amazing the difference it can make.

Yes it was like magic last night.  Three times a day is a pain though.  Do you think I could do morning and night with the t3 and it work just as well?

I have a dose on waking and then at night before sleeping.  Raised cortisol can prevent good sleep - and T3 supports adrenals - but not that quickly !!  I would just celebrate all the positives !

I agree, I have a life. Take T3 first thing in one dose and that's it. I am well. When Endo prescribe T3 to T4 I also took them together once daily.

Dr Lowe, (RIP) took 150mcg once a day (in the middle of the night so nothing interfered).

Bubbap,

I'm glad T3 is helping.

T3 helps improve sleep for some people but disturbs it in others.  I take mine on waking and a smaller dose at bedtime.  European Thyroid Association recommend taking T3 twice daily on T4+T3 combination with the larger T3 dose at bedtime.

See how you feel with 5mcg morning and the rest at bedtime.  If it doesn't work for you simply revert back to the previous method.
