Lol !! What about Green tea and thyroxine???
Ummm... well, green tea is a goitrogen, if that's what you're worried about. But Don't be. It will not affect your thyroxine. So, if you feel ok drinking it, carry on.
Although, all things in moderation, because green tea does contain rather a lot of fluoride, which isn't terribly good for thyroids. But it is natural fluoride, not that industrial waste they put in water and toothpaste!
GG you are a fountain of knowledge! Yes it seems that it would have to be drank in excessive amounts to affect thyroid meds
No, it won't affect thyroid 'meds' however much you drink. A goitrogen just affects the gland, by impeding the uptake of iodine. The exception to that, is of course, soy, which also affects absorption of thyroid hormone at a cellular level. So, that would affect your thyroxine.
I have been told that green tea, in excess, can reduce ferritin/iron. Does anyone know if this is true?
