After an hour anything is okay except other medication and supplements where it is best to allow 2 hours post Levo and 4 hours for iron and calcium supplements.

Green tea is a highly regarded anti-oxidant and very good for you :)

I love green tea and believe it (and a change of margarine to flora/benecol) has helped to reduce my cholesterol from 5.8 to 4.7 in a year...

How long have you been on thyroxine? Undiagnosed and under medicated hypothyroidism causes cholesterol to rise.

I have been on thyroxine for 20 years and, I suspect, under medicated for the last few years. However, I'm seeing the Doc next week and am much better prepared thanks to discovering this website recently. Everyone has been so helpful and knowledgeable.

When I gave up on the statins I was given the GP I confessed to said to use Flora / Benecol because there had been very good results from people who had been taking them. All I need to do now is get to like green tea, I am psyching myself up to try green tea with peppermint. :-)

they do different ones - green tea with lemon and ginger and grean tea with lemon the last one is really nice and very refreshing - try just making it very weak until you get used to it

Sounds good, will give it a try. I ought to go to one of those places that have selections of individual teas out on sale and try them all. I take my tea so weak a tea bag can last me a week so I'm all right on making it weak :-)

There is so much saying green tea shouldn't be consumed by thyroid sufferers but i have now been told by 3 doctors that its perfectly ok so long as its pure with no additives. Also there is so much to say that certain foods are bad for the thyroid and should not be consumed by us but again 3 doctors tell me its all ok.I eat and drink whatever i want and i am fine but leave it at least an hour after taking Levo.

you can buy green tea capsules if you don't actually like the taste of green tea

That sounds interesting or maybe mado's with apple and pear added might be nice.

I don't mean to complicate the issue but if you 'google' TH1 and TH2 immune testing, you will see that if you are TH1 dominant then Green Tea is fine, but not if you are TH2 dominant, so if you haven't had these tests, I would go easy on the Green Tea. Mind you, if the green tea makes you feel better, that in itself probably tells you you are TH1 dominant. Apologies if you have no idea what I am talking about. I am currently working with a doctor who specializes in Functional Endocrinology and I had these tests done. There is a huge amount on line if you start researching and I am definitely a researcher, but I know you have to be careful as there is a lot of conflicting information too. I have been doing Dr Kharazzian's elimination diet and feel so much better.

I am like you tateygreentea ! No advice 21 years ago took medication just before breakfast for probably 10 years ! But thanks to the knowledge gained from this site and supplementing with multi vitamins, minerals and omega 3 and not forgetting green tea with lemon of course feel like my old self again :) will have to try other variety's too ! couldn't drink just green tea taste wise. Have also been on 5.2 diet since jan and have lost weight too ! Things are looking up. Interesting reply by scarlett71 about TH1 dominant will have to look that up !
