Hi chris1961, sounds like you are having a private one done so for Thryoid function it would be good if you could be tested for TSH, TT4,  free T4 and free T3 and TPOA- antibodies test for Hashimotos. You should also have levels of Ferritin, B12, Vit D and Folate tested so that you can see if there are any deficiencies there that you need to supplement so that you can get them all to better levels to get the most from your thyroid meds. Others will be able to answer you better and there are lots of posts about tests if you use the search box at the top of the page. When you get your results post them on here, if you are not going to post the copy then be sure to put the ranges too in brackets then people here can help you more. Good luck

Rt3 too. My GP and endo will only test vits and minerals because the gastro says they should be done, and TSH, FT3, FT4 and the Hashis test.

Was feeling anxious and depressed other day was given diazepam and started with memory probs !!! Don't the medical profession care what they are doing to us !!! I then couldn't sleep because my heart kept missing a best and jolts me back up !!! It's like round and round the garden !!! ... The brain fog and forgetting appts after I had took it was distressing !!!

Thanks but was going just ask my gp ... How do I know if I am hypothyroid now not hyper /hypo ... Been on thyroxine 3 years since having graves and radio iodine in 2012 ?

Probably, the only tests your GP will do are TSH, and FT4 if you're Lucky. What you really need is FT3, but they rarely do that.

You could try asking for vit D, vit B12, folate, and ferritin, because they are important, too. No thyroid hormone replacement is going to work if they are low.

Just gone up to 125 mg ... Felt really low on 100 ... Had radio iodine 2012 but feel I have got more depressed since approaching menopause

Well, that might be a coincidence. You're probably just not on a high enough dose. But we can't know if you Don't post your lab results.

But, if I were you, I'd do that on a new post, as Pastille says below. There won't be many people reading this thread, now.

Hi Chris1961, you would be better off posting questions on a separate new post as it won't be seen here. You are just adding it to your original post and that isn't visible at the moment unless people search it or look back. Hormone levels can affect thyroid medication but it would help others to answer if you could be more specific. I'm not sure what you mean but higher levels can affect how thyroid medication works, yes
