In other words, can Rt3 be building up if undermedicated?😀
jeschiotz,
I would say yes but obviously not so quickly as in someone optimally medicated as there would be less T4 & T3 involved.
If you feel you have a build up of RT3, it would be difficult to assess if you are optimally medicated on thyroid hormone replacement (or not) as your body wouldn't be using the meds correctly to get the RT3 in the first place.
If you are not converting or have receptor insensitivity, the thyroid hormone blood tests are useless as will only report the amount circulating in the blood. Therefore, the only way to assess the amount of RT3 in the body (in order to deal with it) is to have it blood tested.
High TSH, low T3 & low-med T4 would indicate under medication and not elevated RT3.
If you can't raise Armour, have you looked at possible low iron, low/high cortisol or/and high thyroid antibody count ? ? ... all of which could interfere with the bodys acceptance of NDT.…………………………………………………………………………………………............................................
