It could be - obviously if we have symptoms we've never experienced before we would naturally feel alarmed which might exacerbate the symptoms we were having.
First, have you been diagnosed as hypothyroid? If not I think that would be the first port-of-call to get your GP to run a Full Thyroid Function test - not just a TSH and T4.
I remember quite a while before being diagnosed I was getting weird feelings (didn't appreciate at the time they could be hypo as wasn't diagnosed). By the time you get to the hospital and everything is died down they probably think we were experiencing an anxiety attack whereas it might be due to too low a dose of hormones and our body is trying to rectify things.
Hi, I've had this too. My gp put it down to stress, but I wasn't particularly stressed at the time. But I was having other hypothyroid symptoms. Think it was a hashimotos flare. Do you have this? Obviously it could be anxiety, is there someone you could talk this through with? Take care
Me too - ended up in A&E more than once - my thyroid levels were too low ! nit that the hospital even looked at this as a possibility mind you. A very good GP said that when thyroid levels come up anxiety woukd go -and it did.
I've had exactly the same! In fact it happened to me two nights ago. The first time it happened I was at work and got taken to hospital by ambulance but all heart and lung tests came back fine. I've since called a medic in the middle of the night due to this but again tests ok. Mine normally happen during the night and wake me from sleep which is very scary, but it's not genuine anxiety and I'm not stressed. My thoughts are that its a thyroid hormone induced panic attack. I have Hashimotos and I believe these attacks are due to a hormone rise or drop
