Does anybody have episodes of your heart racing. Took my heart rate level this afternoon and it was 114,now down to 63,but it makes me feel anxious and churned up inside, and I don't why.

Yes I get that sometimes. Feels as it will burst out of my chest. Very scary
I just have to lie down and wait for it to go back to normal. Sometimes takes hours.
Hi,
Before I started taking NDT, I often had palpitations & feelings of extreme fright for no particular reason. I read somewhere that it's to do with the adrenals making up for lack of thyroid hormones.
My general hear rate seems to have slowed from being constantly fast, though it's still rapid.

Yup, me too Marsred. In fact awaiting results of a 24hour monitor. Sometimes lasts up to eight hours. Perhaps a chat with your doctor would be advisable to check things out and get some reassurance? I'm sure there will be other members who are far more knowledgeable than myself who can advise. I just wanted you to know you're not alone with this. 🌺
Thanks for your kind help..so scary.x
I had a spell of that in January. My resting heartbeat was 98, it had been well over 100 and I felt dreadful - just like you describe.
Eventually I went to the doctor, I had an ECG on the spot, a chest X-ray ( I had not long had a horrible virus and blood tests to see if I had actually had a heart attack the day after that. The doc rang me the evening after the final test was done and said everything was fine but to come back if I was still having problems.
I felt rough for another couple of weeks but my pulse didn't go over 100 so I put up with it and now it is completely back to a normal resting speed of around 60 as it used to be. I don't know what the problem was - I think it must have been connected to the virus I had after Christmas - and it seems to have gone now but it was very unpleasant and frightening at the time - unpleasant enough to get me to the doctor. Hopefully you can get it sorted out.
I had palpitations (without realising that's what it was) for a long time before seeing the Dr and it was only when my nurse friend checked my pulse that I found out I have an arrhythmia. She told me to ge it checked and I had an ECG, was sent for a heart scan where they discovered I have left ventricular dysfunctio and have been on medication for the last two years which has helped greatly. I am not saying that is what you have as there must be other causes of palpitations but I would advise you to see your Dr. Hope you get it sorted soon
Yep, i can have a pulse rate of 116, and feel really hot if i eat rice, ( brown or white).... Other starches also do this to me, bread, oats, pasta..... I was dx s diabetic t2 and given metformin, but it made little difference..... Its only by careful monitoring that i have managed to work out exactly what to avoid......

I see from an earlier post that you are on statins and a blood pressure tablet. Could this not be part of the problem. Statins are known to affect muscles within the body and the heart after all is a muscle. I would look at the research into statins that says they can cause heart problems. It was published last summer. When taking statins the production of K2 is blocked which is needed in the blood to direct calcium into the bones and not leave it in the arteries. How long have you been on statins ? Do you really need them ? Check out Dr Malcolm Kendrick who wrote the book - The Cholesterol Con.

Also blood pressure tablets have side effects. If your blood pressure goes too low then your heart will panic - and beat faster in order to keep things going.
I think Clutter suggested a rise in your T4 medicine to improve levels of T4 and T3. Thyroid levels have a big impact on the heart and its performance. There is a book on Amazon called - Thyroid and heart Failure - packed with research linking the two. I have the book after saving up for it ! Raised blood pressure is a symptom and not an illness - there is usually an underlying cause.
Hope you soon feel better.....
yes, since i developed hashimotos in 2008 or so. Esp. when trying to sleep.
Hi, This is very scary I am back on Propranolol since last week.. I was rushed into the AMU at the local Hospital last week because my blood pressure and heartbeat were sooooooo erratic. I'm back on Propranolol tablets now which have helped. I used to get this a lot when I was Hyperthyroid and was on a slow release Beta Blocker. I'm Hashi's now and had a bout of it last year, but I was suffering with depression and anxiety because of family bereavements. I took the pills for a short term and had been ok since until this happened. I wasn't anxious until it started but the GP thinks the anxiety started it... I know it was the other way around though.
I hope you can get this under control soon best wishes x
Occasionally the heartbeat is almost audible very briefly. Recently I found that my pulse, which used to be 54, is now over 70. My blood pressure, however, is at the bottom of "low".
Interesting about the adrenals connection - thanks, Leverette.
I have regular palpitations and feelings of fear and anxiety. They are worse when I eat food. There horrible and make you feel ill but I feel better for knowing that it's all part of the thyroid being out of balance and not my heart.Hope that helps?
Thank you all for your comments, going to see doctor this afternoon. Took my blood pressure this morning and it was 123 over 74, maybe a bit low.Need to find out whats going on..xx
Saw doctor, having ecg and a thyroid blood test next wednesday. Also gave me Propranolol to take ,if I want to...Have took one and heart doesnt feel so erratic at the moment...but still feel strange,he believes it could be too much thyroxine...only had bloods done last month..and they were supposed to be normal.
