I am very sorry you are suffering at present. Despite what the medical profession state, it is obvious that you're not well.
Despite you having a hemithyroidectomy two years ago and struggling on I think it is disgraceful that you've had no assistance. For goodness sake, levothyroxine is only £2 per month. You're not asking for a trip to the moon and it's only a hormone.
The least they could do is trial you with some levothyroxine - just because your TSH is towards the top of the range. Unfortunatley the 'powers that be' have decided - even if the person has had a hemithyroidectomy - that they must continue to suffer until it reaches 10, rather than medicate towards the upper end of the range.

Ask your GP for a full thyroid function test as you are fed up being unwell and your clinical symptoms being ignored. You can show him the interpretation of blood tests and you might have to consider self-medicating which many on this forum have done.
Thousands take levothyroxine and appear to be fine on it, but others - those who remain undiagnosed - or those given too low a dose of any thyroid hormones - most on this forum and we cannot recover.
T3, liothyronine, is the Active hormone required in all of our receptor cells - the brain contains the most - and our body just cannot function if we don't have sufficient T3. T4 is inactive and should convert to T3 but doesn't always sufficiently and we struggle.
Your doctor may only do TSH and T4 - labs sometimes wont test (if they are requested FT4 and FT3) so you may have to get some blood tests privately.
Take your pulse/temp - both are usually below normal if hypo - but the doctors are unaware of this unfortunatley but you can confirm yourself.

We've to read and learn a lot if we want to get well and we can. It might take a while but it's good when you do.
p.s. Always get the earliest appointment for thyroid blood test and fast (you can drink water). If you take levo allow 24 hours between the last dose and the test. This allows the TSH to be highest as it drops throughout the day. If you've not also had B12, it D, iron, ferritin and folate tested ask for these as we can have problems if deficient.
xthyroidx,
It is expected that the remaining lobe will produce sufficient hormone but it doesn't always work out that way and eventually the remaining lobe may fail.
Your TSH 4.07 is almost at the top of range which indicates your thyroid is struggling to produce hormone. FT4 and FT3 aren't bad but this probably only due to high TSH flogging your remaining thyroid.
NHS will usually diagnose hypothyroidism and commence treatment when TSH is over range. Arrange your next thyroid test early in the morning when TSH is highest, and fast (water only) as TSH drops post-prandially.
